Use the remaining money for phase change and water cooling. I would recommend the ud7 b3, but you said you'd had bad experiences with them... go with the maximus then. Add in a competent power supply and a couple of 580s or a 590 and you're good to go.

Common how much computing power does an alienware admin really need lol smile.gif

Victim of my own efficiency, actually.

I think I'll definitely do 3x Maximus and 3x 2600ks // 6 990x's ~ That way I get a good spread and can make some future decisions VIA that route.

What ram would you guys suggest with the 2600ks? Perhaps some Mushkin Radioactive?

Still , don't make the same mistake as most of us do . These "all in one" water-coolers are average in the best situations . Note that a GOOD wateer cooling loop costs well above 200 . Noctua NH-D14 is THE KING . Also , just for the heck of it , buy yourself a revodrive and see the difference .
dude a revodrive is nothing but ssds in raid 0 in one physical format... why not just buy mutliple ssds and put them in raid0 yourself, same performance/ less money.

If he has enough money to spend on a 990x he has enough money to buy a custom loop atleast if not an added phase change

benches show a diminishing return in performance with memory above 1866... so i would opt to get an 1866 dual channel kit and tighten the timings...

if you must have 16gb, get 2 of these:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231455

EDIT: Mushkin doesn't make 1866 ram i don't think.. you can always buy mushkin ram at 1600mhz and overclock though if you want... unless they are really good overclockers, you won't see the same timings with dims that natively support 1866..

My ram are rated for 1600mhz and because of that are only stable at 9-11-9-27 1T at 1872

here is a memory bench of my ram 1600mhz overclocked to 1872

Get 990x man...Cmon, look i know the 2600k is better in gaming and can clock really high..But when u get the budget after another 6 month...u can sell the 990x and get more money out of them.

We already did.

6 6990's ~ got 2 w/water blocks
12 590's ~ mine's on water
6 580's ~

Saved my last budget for that...Hehe.

Couple of the 590's are samples but, they're perfect and I was told to keep them so...

Like I said, everything else is upgraded, I'd rather be "reasonable" this round so I can afford a few new racks.

The 3/6 I'm thinking of doing will work well but, if I do liquid etc, won't have the $$$ for another rack.

I think I'm definitely going to go with 6x 990x's just because I don't have much to do in regards of upgrading the entire platform...Clock for clock, the 990x seems to perform better, gaming obviously it suffers a little but, it's still ahead of everyone else.

For a mystery 3, I will be doing the Maximus and the 2600k...

I realize Ivy is supposed to be 20%+ Sandy but, for right now, I think that's the best option

Tyvm for your opinions everyone
