Sell Video Cards with WaterBlocks or not?

Thread Starter
I recently decided to upgrade my video cards for a pair of 6950's. Planning on selling my 5850's to offset the cost of the new cards and the new blocks that I will get for them. After looking through Ebay and Craigslist to get an idea of price and the best way to sell them, stock cooler vs with waterblock mounted, I am still a bit undecided. I don't see anyone selling cards with anything, but stock coolers.

Has anyone had any luck selling cards via ebay with waterblocks? Should I just mount the stock cooler back on the cards and sell the waterblocks separately? Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks.

See what happens when you sell the cards with the waterblock together. just make sure you post your temps and setup to give people an idea of what they are getting. i've sold a card/waterblock on ebay before and it was way less hassle than the alternative. hell i threw in the stock fan for good measure. what did i care. I wasn't going to be able to use the waterblock on my next gpu.

Honestly, I would just mount the stock coolers back on. A lot of inexperienced PC builders (like myself) would think that you tampered with the card and that it could decrease performance. Just put the stock ones back on and don't mention that you ever removed them

You would most likely make the most money selling the cards and blocks separately but its a bit of hassle either way. selling cards with blocks on is fine but limits your audience to people who have a water cooling loop even on a forum like this that is probably less than 20%. the bigger the market your aiming for the higher chance you have of selling for the right price.

Alternatively one could suggest that the water blocks differentiate you from the competition and the niche market may be more profitable

I just sold two HD5970 cards with EK waterblocks, including the original shrouds and fans for more than I originally purchased them for. Just make sure that you include specs and benchmarks with temps. With the HD7k just around the corner(28nm is already taped out) smart money is on selling HD5k cards now while they still hold their value.

Thanks for all the responses. I guess I will try it out with the blocks attached and see how it goes.
