Like you're favorite band changed to a completely different genre, making worse music for higher record sales. Selling to those who don't appreciate a true quality product. Crytek kinda lost theyre pride... don't get me wrong they did an amazing job given the limitations of a dx9 platform. But for a title like Crysis 2 we just expected more.
Except for the fact that you know, most people who actually gave the game a chance actually like the gameplay elements more in this then the original crysis. Crytek said from the get go that this was going to be a different type of game and never hyped the graphics the way you all did. It's your own faults for having expectations that almost certainly weren't going to be met. Argue that the graphics aren't ground breaking like the first, thats fine and completely true. It still is one of the best looking games ever released outside of the few actual issues like low res textures on certain objects.

Give these guys a break OK? Crysis 1 was (well in recent times) the hallmark of PC graphics. Yes many people also enjoyed it as a game like me, but nevertheless there are probably more gamers who bought it for the graphics.

Now 4 years later a sequel appears! and it's released with the old DX9, the multiplayer has been downscaled, the game is quite linear, the graphics haven't really gotten better ... etc.

Now if you were hoping this game to be a sequel to crysis 1 and were waiting for the graphics wouldn't you be pissed?

This is THE one game that people were hoping to take the leap in PC graphics and when that failed and people started moaning you're calling them elitists, idiots etc. really? I mean really? you guys have tons and tons of games that you can play for gameplay but when gamers ask for ONE game that would max their rigs and truly advance tech, they're considered idiots, and not gamers.

Think about it.
It is what YOU all expected, crytek never said they were planning on absolutely pushing the envelope like the original. The game is great in it's own right, it's to bad you can't enjoy it because it just happens to be a sequel to the game with the best graphics ever.(this game is arguably better looking from an art direction standpoint despite the few obvious flaws that have been pointed out before)

I also want to note I wanted ground breaking graphics like the first just like everyone else, but after I got over that I was able to actually really get into it and I honestly don't believe the game deserves near the amount of flack it gets. People saying it sucks because it only just barely ties or takes the lead in graphics? Really? Do you listen to yourselves?

The whole point of my post was to point out that when THE ONE GAME (see that only one? one, uno, 1? ) that people were wanting to be the game to play for graphics comes out with "mediocre" visuals, people start to complain. It clearly isn't a normal sequel to crysis 1 but deviated from the idea of that game almost totally.

Now because many of us wanted ONE (yes again one) game where we could truly enjoy the graphics and whine because we didn't get that, many people like you start to mock us, call us elitists etc.

There are basically an unlimited amount of games that can be enjoyed for the gameplay. Why do you have to put down the people that want one game that has mind blowing graphics?

And I really want to play it but now that the DX11 has been confirmed I will only buy it when the game has the final look done.

E: and to your edit, many peeps say it sucks because crytek changed the nanosuit significantly. Also the game is much more linear than the first one. Just because you liked it does not mean that other people like it. I always laugh when people throw the argument of: "the game is more entertaining than the first one!" , because that's completely a matter of opinion.

If by mediocre graphics you mean arguably some of the best graphics ever released then yes I suppose you are right.

And I'm not putting anyone down, but these are ridiculous reasons to flat out say the game sucks.(not saying you were saying that but many have and it gets annoying)

Like I've said before, crytek said from the get go that this was going to be a different styled shooter. That doesn't inherently make it bad because it isn't exactly like the first. I have also made this argument in another thread but the nanosuit has been streamlined not dumbed down like others have said. Yes it has been simplified but it is also much more fluid to control and you still have every function that was available in the original. Obviously this is opinion but once again it's the fact that disliking something simply because it wasn't exactly like the original is ridiculous. Now if most of these people actually gave the game a try AND THEN said they didn't like it fine, it's their opinion from there. But most people spout off crap without even touching the game and just say the same mindless babble they have heard others say.

Crysis 2 certainly did not meet expectations from Crysis 1.

That is - the expectations put on Crysis 2 by its predecessor was that of a cutting edge graphical tour de force.

Playing through Crysis 2, I thoroughly enjoyed it but could do less with the interactive cut scenes and the rendered unconscious or unable to move bits that seem to plague all FPS nowadays.

Okay, seriously, I won't lie to anyone, I was definitely one of the people who whined and moaned about Crysis not having dx. 11 at release, BUT I still went and bought it anyways. I was definitely disappointed with Crytek for backing down on their promises, but still had hope that they would release something, anything, in a later patch like was said.

And with all of that said, now that they have in fact announced that they are actually working on a patch for implementing some dx. 11, please, will all of you putting down what the patch will be, STOP. People like you all will never be satisfied, and in fact discourage Crytek from doing anything at all. So just be grateful that they are doing something, (because let's face it, it's more than most any other dev has done for the PC crowd recently) for reals. Geezus.

Speak for yourself.

Given the drama around this game, the wise person waited to see what was going to happened before coughing up $60. A short 2 weeks later... boom, we get the patch announcement. There will be a lot of us who will enjoy our first play through with whatever graphical improvements this patch affords us.

Maybe they'll fix the dumb AI and make the multiplayer not play like Call of Duty. Or maybe figure out what the flickering issue is with Crossfire setups. I reloaded everything the other day (Windows 7, drivers and game) and it played beautiful with no flickering. Start the game back up a day later and the flickering is back.

Most of my complaints have been about everything other than DX related. I guess we'll be stuck with an 'over simplified' (instead of dumbed down - like that better?) and unfinished Crysis 2.

I don't really care about DX 11, I've already finished the game a week ago and thought it looked real nice even for a DX 9 game. It challenges my system at 6088 x 1080 resolution, especially since I have to run with just one card.
