I love how there's a bunch of people just repeating everything all the angry nerds were moaning about.

There is the chance they take a few extra months and convert certain assets to use tessellation, or do some other SM5.0 techniques, but there isn't much of a reason to, they're not likely to pick up a lot of sales from doing little things like that. Personally I'd rather see some cheap DLC (SP or MP) than DX11 implementation, especially considering I already played through the game, I'm not going to re-play it just because graphics got 5% better.

Anyway, once next-gen consoles come out, multi-platform games will have larger texture sizes, higher poly count meshes, better animations through higher model bone count tolerances, etc. That's when PC gamers with expensive rigs will really get to see their machines shine.
Uh, pardon me sir, but I'm one of THOSE people who wouldn't buy it without directx11.... @ SIXTY FRIGGIN DOLLARS!! I paid almost six hundred smackaroos for my gtx480 when it came out so i can play the latest and greatest games. If said games are only going to released in directx9, then i would only need a gt9600 in sli. Big cost difference there, huh?

SO! The fact remains that, the game is released, unfinished(no arguing that!) and costs a whopping $60! Well, i hope you're happy with your expense. Personally, I'll wait until YOU are done testing this game, for them, at your cost.

When i pick it up, and I def will(c'mon, it is still Crysis!), I'll be paying $30 or less, for a finished and polished game.

Thank you and please don't rag on others just cause you pissed away too much for an unfinished product.

Good question! The original Crysis was 64bit and dx10.1. So, Crysis 2 steps backward in technology? I will never understand the reasoning.....

lol, yeah but in the future we'l be in a the same situation. Imagine this:

The year is 2016 the new Xbox 1080 is released shortly after the PS4. PC gamers now moan because the consoles only support dx 11.1 and none of the released console ports of the new console games support the new dx13 hardware raytracing and point cloud mapping. Instead a new fustration of running inefficient outdated rasterised games on next gen hardware. Only a handful of games and tech demos support this new dx13 hardware. PC gamers sigh once again and wonder when the next bunch of consoles will come out so that they may efficiently utilise the spanking hardware they paid loads for..... and the cycle starts again.....

(ps: to avoid this hypothetical nightmare coming true please promote and or create pc exclusive games indefinately, thank you)

A friend of mine said he got about a 30% increase in efficiency just by using 64 bit binaries.

Hit and miss though with crysis I actually get around 3fps higher running 32bit. Hopefully 64bit support will yield better results in the future.

Well, it's because they had to fit it on the 360 and make sure they play nice with the PS3 (which I hear is hell to develop for). That's why there's no shooting out the supports from under buildings to make them fall on top of people. The xbox can't do that.

To make things worse, the PS3 doesn't use DirectX and the Xbox doesn't have the ram for DX11; there's no clear way of telling how much they can get away with in the DirectX libraries that the consoles will be able to do. In other words, they probably coded for the consoles and then used DX9 to play it safe.

I am going to say this again. The reason Crysis 2 was in DX9 @ launch was because of PS3/360. Not because they cause the game to not look as good but because knowing how superior PC graphics are and adding DX11 on-top of that would have made 360/PS3 look bad. The simply wanted to say Crysis 2 looks as good as in PC.

That's your mistake. Maxing out your hardware is not the responsibility of a game developer, and just because it didn't max out your hardware doesn't mean a game is unfinished.

Yea, so explain to me again why you bought the newest and best GPU if games aren't making use of them?

Fact, you use "fact" incorrectly. It sounds a lot more like your opinion than anything. Yea, it costs $60, just like most other games. Get over it. I was paying $55 for games 20 years ago, which is around $85 today. And I wasn't whining about it either.

Yea, I "tested" the entire game, it was a really fun game. You shouldn't play it though, it won't stress your GPU, and you'll realize you wasted your money.

Actually I'm perfectly happy with my purchase. You might find this concept strange, but when I'm purchasing a game I only look at the DX requirement, not the details on the exact shaders that are used. Not buying a game and waiting until it is cheaper because you don't feel it is worth $60 is perfectly reasonable, I do that all of the time. Calling a game unfinished because it doesn't use the latest tech, is idiotic (or at we on OCN like to call it, 'pulling a Rayzer').
