[MyCrysis] DirectX 11 coming for Crysis 2! - Page 10

oh come on, what's going to hurt if the PC version came out with DX11 in the first place? that their magic fairy console isn't as powerful as they believe it to be so? .

What are you trying to imply? That i care about the developers that do not deliver their promises on time?

Sorry, i have standards, i do not want to be served the re-skinned COD pace wit ha different name.

Il take my hard earned money to developers that deliver innovative games with promises on time.

Just to heads up, no one cares about your opinion on having "fun".

You don't care about his opinion b/c it doesn't align with yours. If it did, you'd be trying to use it as proof that people feel the same way you do.

Lordikon is far more respected around here than you are and is an actual gaming programmer.

If said games are only going to released in directx9, then i would only need a gt9600 in sli. Big cost difference there, huh?

SO! The fact remains that, the game is released, unfinished(no arguing that!) and costs a whopping $60! Well, i hope you're happy with your expense. Personally, I'll wait until YOU are done testing this game, for them, at your cost.

When i pick it up, and I def will(c'mon, it is still Crysis!), I'll be paying $30 or less, for a finished and polished game.

Thank you and please don't rag on others just cause you pissed away too much for an unfinished product.

Good question! The original Crysis was 64bit and dx10.1. So, Crysis 2 steps backward in technology? I will never understand the reasoning.....
So let me cliffnotes this: Whaaaaaa! I'm mad because I spent way more money than I should have, on a GPU I didn't really need, so I'll just blame it on the developers!

And as far as I know, Crysis 1 was Dx10.0 b/c Nvidia didn't have any 10.1 cards at the time and Crysis 1 is a TWIMTBP game.

Yea, so explain to me again why you bought the newest and best GPU if games aren't making use of them?

Fact, you use "fact" incorrectly. It sounds a lot more like your opinion than anything. Yea, it costs $60, just like most other games. Get over it. I was paying $55 for games 20 years ago, which is around $85 today. And I wasn't whining about it either.

Yea, I "tested" the entire game, it was a really fun game. You shouldn't play it though, it won't stress your GPU, and you'll realize you wasted your money.

Actually I'm perfectly happy with my purchase. You might find this concept strange, but when I'm purchasing a game I only look at the DX requirement, not the details on the exact shaders that are used. Not buying a game and waiting until it is cheaper because you don't feel it is worth $60 is perfectly reasonable, I do that all of the time. Calling a game unfinished because it doesn't use the latest tech, is idiotic (or at we on OCN like to call it, 'pulling a Rayzer').
For real? Like that? No prob.

This was your line that was incorrect:

Quote:
As for the people that wouldn't buy it simply because it didn't have DX11, those are the types that will never be happy no matter what.
I have been very happy with the games I've purchased. BFBC2 was great. So was Risen and Two World 2. And they were all demanding games. To say it "simply didn't have directx11" is blasphemy when used in the same sentence as Crysis 2. It didn't even ship with 10.1. Or maybe you just never heard of or played the original Crysis, I don't know.

So after all the quotes of my last post, you have managed to pull a Lordikon(short for dodging the point). Adding directx11, a month or two after the game's release, is called an unfinished game.

Fine. It is my OPINION, that a game, the developers are still in the process of building, shall be named "Unfinished" until the API's are completed.

So let it be written...

I doubt that is even remotely true. Call of Duty four only had 7 patches. And each one addressed console dvars that were being accessed to give people advantages.

Modern Warfare 2 had a similar amount of patches as well, but they had to address some other issues.

Black Ops is the only one that I can think of that was released with some major problems, and post patch (I think patch 3) it was fixed. I doubt that that many games have had 28 or so patches. Stop being so melodramatic and over-exaggerating your hate.

You misunderstand. There is no "waah". I'm dying to play it. I can't wait. But i want to play the final PC version, not the console port version(yeah i know, they said they made pc first). My first post was a defensive response to

Which is just an incorrect statement. Some of us are more patient and believe the wait for the best will be worth it.

You totally missed the point. I know exactly what DirectX 11 is and what it does. In order for it to do all the things it does, the game has to be designed with that in mind. If you take a DX9 game and just tack on DX11, it is much harder to implement DX11s key features than if it were designed with them in the first place. For a full implementation, many things would need to be totally redone.

If it is just being tacked on, more than likely only minor things will get added, like shadow improvements and things that have little to no effect on game play mechanics.

Things like good tessellation, the models and geometry needs to be designed and mapped with tessellation in mind and the game needs to be designed to function with geometry that has been changed by the tessellation.

You don't just flip a switch and everything looks great.
