Questions before I buy 100+ USD mech kb

Thread Starter
I was thinking about buying the XArmor U9BL-S or the Razer Black Widow Ultimate
But before I invest over $100:
1. Can I swap the switches in the Razer from blue to brown?
2. Do either keyboards have program buttons? ie: set a button to open Firefox or AIM

For those options, you probably want to look at a Razer BlackWidow Ultimate.
Once again...

I thought you were going to buy 100 keyboards. If that had been true my recommendation would have been a Volume Discount.

Whoops. Reread post title. I'd delete this but the forum won't allow me to.

Not sure if the macros on the black widow can be programed with application shortcuts. And you can't get brown switches on the black widow, unless you mod it.
The razer can open programs. It's just not with the normal macro window. You simply assign a key and click launch program. Then select the program. The blues cannot be swapped out for browns without much effort from what I can tell. They look soldered in on my razer.
You can swap the switches in the sense that it is not impossible to do so. In reality, it requires a lot of soldering/de-soldering, and the prices of switches are such that you'd be better off just buying a Brown switch keyboard and trying to sell the Razer.

The switches on both BWU and Xarmor are plate mounted, so you can't swap the switch w/o desoldering it.

But, even on a PCB mounted keyboard you have still to desolder the led to open the switch.

So it's a possible operation (i will swap my browns with clears), but require a bit of soldering skill, and the needed desoldering tools, and also some 60/70$ to buy the switches (if you want some brand new switches)
