Hyper 212+ Fans (Controlling them)

Thread Starter
Hey, I'm planning on getting a Hyper 212+ (Not from Newegg, their price is much more expensive) and I'm using a CM R4 as the second fan to do a push/pull setup. Is it safe to use a 4 pin y splitter on the CPU FAN socket to power both? Or should I plug the 2nd fan into a 4 pin fan socket on the motherboard on the opposite end (Would it still work with CPU temperature PWM?)

Plug them into the CPU FAN headers if you want the motherboard's Q-Fan (at least that's what Asus calls it) controlling the fans' speed as the CPU temperature fluctuates.

you should check to see how much power each pwm gives off and see if the draw from the fans will be too much for it. I ran a splitter on my cpu fan socket but it put out more power than what the fans drew.

a very good alternative is getting a fan controller like a lamptron to completely avoid drawing on the motherboard.

Consult your motherboard manual to know how much amperage a single connector can handle. But you should not have any problems with 2 normal speed fans. I'm using 2 Blademasters on the cpu connector of my asus

It will be fine with the splitter on the cpu header, but you really should get matching blademaster for optimal cooling efficiency.

+1 for this. Your asus board will hold 2 blademaster fans, and the blade master fan's are BETTER than R4's even if Q-fan isnt in use. They move more air. Only reason I used r4's where cus when I got my cooler(hyper212+) and wanted to do push pull they didnt have a blademaster instock...like an ass i got 2 R4's...they work ok though
