It was a lame attempt at a joke.

If you try updating the BIOS on something and it all goes disastrously wrong and the device is dead, it's called "bricking it" (because you've essentially turned your device into something about as useful as a brick).

You build houses with bricks.

Ahh well I guess my intelligence wasn't good enough for your superior jokes. Yah I know their are some high stakes by flashing a custom bios on it. If you load the stock bios into that ATI RBE tool does it have all those values filled in so i can just modify the one that looks wrong?

You'll need to look at the tutorials to get that. There's no way I'm risking it for the small benefit I receive. If you'd asked me BEFORE I found the AMD GPU Tool, I'd have said I'm definitely interested in flashing it. But since I got the AGT, which I have in my Programs->Startup group, it takes me about 5 seconds maximum to set the clock values to 157/450 (the 157 is already at 157) and click OK. Once I do that, no more flicker until the next reboot.

I probably switch my PC on about 10 times a week (because during the week I switch it on in the morning and it stays on all day). So that's 50 seconds a week of setting my clock speed. Not exactly a big problem.

So I'm not risking bricking my graphics card to save almost nothing now I have that workaround. It would probably take at least an hour (as a non-expert) to get it done. So it'd take until the end of the year before that hour starts to get me into profit on time saved not having to set the clocks.

Ok well I think I might go with that work around unless it starts to bug me that I have a card that doesnt work the way it is supposed to be. I am thinking of emailing Gigabyte and asking them for a new BIOS version with that fix. If I do happen to get that version then I will send you a link to the new BIOS version. Then life will be all good.

I think their might be different BIOS versions for the different type of RAM Modules. So I was wondering what version do you have?

Yeah I saw that, I also don't know what I've got. With those two big fans on it, I'm not sure if we'd even be able to see them. I took some photos on the day I put my hard drives in, figured they'd come in handy one day. Looking at the chips that are visible, it really looks like it says Samsung on mine. I don't know if they're the memory chips though. I'd be surprised if they are. I'd expect them to be much bigger.

If you still have gray screen crashes/issues.....ijust resolved this...

Win 7 - cleaned driver installation, over and over until win 7 didnt pick up the 5800 series card
Installed 10.9 catalyst display drivers (catalyst CC is pointless sometimes, so im uninstalling) display driver is soething like v8.7

MSI Afterburner replacing CCC for me as we speak
