"discard" for ext4 within an image file on SSD?

I have an ext4 formatted SSD that I have "discard" enabled on. Within this base FS I have several raw image files of VMs and network boot OSes which are internally partitioned and formatted to ext4. Should I enable "discard" on these file systems too?
