suggestions please!

Hi, I'm new to the forums but relatively experienced with system building. This is my current rig:
mobo: gigabyte ga-x58a-ud3r
cpu: i7 950
heatsink: coolermaster v6gt
case: silverstone raven2
memory: 12gb corsair vengeance 1600
gpu: asus 570gtx oc (x2 sli)

Basically my question is this... I have been messing with bios settings and stress testing (with intel burn test) my cpu all day. I am encountering an issue with keeping my chip temp below 70, yet keeping my vcore high enough without the system crashing. Right now, I have it at 3.66ghz, 22x multiplier, 166mhz bus @ 1.280v and my peak temp with "very high stress level" on intel burn test was exactly 70C. Should I leave it there? Or am I missing out on some key component that will unlock more speed without bringing up temp/vcore to the very limit of what is suggested?

Weird, it shouldn't be above 67c for that chip and that cooler is pretty good. You sure you installed the heatsink properly? There could be something wrong with heatsink itself though.

See that's what I thought.. Also, I would have thought with the excessive fans on this particular case that I might've even expected lower temps.

But yeah, I believe the heatsink is mounted correctly, as it would only fit on there one way. Although I must say it was one of the least user-friendly mounting designs I've ever dealt with.

Those temperatures are a little hot for that level of OC, but they are perfectly safe. I've folded 24/7 at 85C for half a year with no problem.

Intel Burn Test as you're using it will give you peak temperatures too, so it's not reflective of every day tasks/use. Have you checked temperatures under another program like OCCT or even playing a game? If all is sound you should see between 5-10C less than Intel Burn Test on those.
