Thanks guys. I'm running AIDA64 stability test right now after my first OC test @ 1.3v, 44 multiplier. Not sure how long I should run the test before switching <if it's stable> to next level. Running 5min so far, with core maxes at 61,64,67,61

No !! im agreeing with you!

i meant around 72c for safe 24/7

70c is pretty hot and throttle or core shutdown at around 98c? Thats a safe gaurd built into the chip yes?

Well your cores are well with in the safe zone!
So my question is thats the safe for 24.7 anything above that is not good for it and failure at around 98?

Thanks grunion

I'd say < 80°c, > and I'd lower my OC.

Oh IDK, I remember with Kents/Yorkfield that TJmax was about 20°c away from the temp that may cause permanent damage.

SB I have no clue.

Much appreciated. Any idea on how long I should run Aida64 before moving on to the next multiplier?

I only run 15 minutes or so, then move on.

I go until I reach max vltg, or until it throttles under heavy heavy stress.
Make sure you keep your ram at default speed/timings for now.

You want to make things quicker, find your max vltg now that keeps you within thermal limits without upping the multi.

Once you find that voltage, adjust the multi until you hit instability.

Thanks once again for the info, helps a ton.

My ram is at stock spec's 8-9-8-24 1600. I think I may keep it there till after i'm stable for a while.

I heard a good recommended max voltage is around 1.425 for around 4.8 to 5.0, but because I"m a rookie I think i'll snail my way up and see where it hits instability.

Thanks!

1.5v should be where you want to max it.

but depending on what you want...liek for me, there is a jump in voltages i have to make from 1.25 to 1.3x or so to make my chip stable at a higher multiplier. you have to factor in whether or not it's worth it for you.

for example, if it takes u 1.4v to hit 4.9ghz, and 1.52 to hit 5.0ghz, then it's not worth it.

temps, anything below 85 is fine. cpu chips are made, at least currently ( intel ), to be able to withstand high temperatures and will drop it's speed if it hits max.

So I set I should set my voltage, make sure its thermally stable, then raise the multiplier, or slowly raise both?
