Currently OCing 2600K. Help me out?

Thread Starter
Well, I'm currently in the process of OCing my new 2600K rig. This is my first time doing this, I've done some research but you'll never truly learn till you do it right?

I'm running everything at stock right now. Doing IntelBurn and getting temps that stablize around 55c - 58c. Is that okay? I know it should be running fine since it's at stock clock, but I'm just testing it to see if I have my Cpu heatsink on well enough, haha.

Btw, I'm using Real Temp 3.60 to monitor my temps and it's not really reading any of my system info except for my Temps. Does it read GPU or not?

Thanks and I hope some people chime in to hang out with me while I'm working on this. Haha.

What motherboard do you have?

Your temps seem about right for the stock cooler. The first things you'll want to do is replace the stock cooler with a better cooler. Lots of people like the noctua nh-d14, personally I use the corsair h70.

Real Temp is great for the CPU, but use hwmonitor or speedfan for other things like the GPU.

Personally for stress testing I use both intelburn and prime95. I've had one pass the test, and the other cause a failure.

Good luck!

Ok, that's wierd. My User CP is all messed up... All my system info is gone, posts are gone, and I've definitely not been a member since 2007. Umm, whatever I guess.

Anyways, I'm running a 2600K w/ CM Hyper 212+ w/ second fan, AsRock Extreme4, RipjawsX 1600 DDR3 2x4Gb CL9.

In that case your temps are a bit high (what is the room temp?). With my H70, @ 5Ghz, I'm getting temps in 70C range at load.

At 3.4Ghz stock, my load temps were in the 45C range.

That being said, you can easily start bumping your frequency. You should be able to hit 4.2Ghz without adjusting voltages.

I'm currently running IntelBurn with 1.25v and 4.1Ghz maxing at roughly 60c. And my room is pretty freakin warm right now, haha.

Awesome - now slowly bump the frequency. If you get a BSOD code 124 or 101, bump the cpu voltage a notch or two and repeat. The concensus is that voltages up to 1.35 are pretty safe.

I'm at 1.45 with LLC enabled and so far my OC is extremely stable.

What are the max (safe) temps or voltage? I read somewhere, 1.4v and 80c.

keep the 1.25 v

bump the multiplier

EDIT: max safe is however u feel like going to lol. it throttles at around 98, so just keep it in the 80s. remember that you will not be doing anythign that stresses the cpu as much as IBT/prime, so in real world settings, it will NOT be as high as the programs will make it.

max voltage is 1.52

also, realtemp has been updated. get the newer version. use gpuz to read temps on gpu.

do not use too many monitoring programs at once/.

I should have the new Realtemp I think. 3.6? I just downloaded it so I assume it'd be the newest, haha.

So I pretty much just go until it crashes huh? Crashes won't damage anything right? Haha.

EDIT: Btw, what should I bump my voltage by if it fails the Intel Burn Test?

I usually bump .1v at a time.
