Whats your other problem?

I just don't like the jump temp when it goes under load! core temps idle around 32c~36c and as soon as the load hits it jumps to 44c~46c and the TC starts to climb after that (TC = Case temp of the chip) it is not BSOD'ing or anything like that I just want it to only have a little jump in temps and I am even using that new stuff Indigo Extreme
post #142 of 380
well I did not get a response from you, but I figured it out lo I must have been out of it tired again!!! I did not even see that I was not lowering the cpu/nb down from 1.48 volts I just plum forgot about it! Once I lowered that down the temps came down!!!

I flt like such a idiot as I was playing around trying to get 3000mhz cpu/nb (AMD's FSB) but all I could squeeze out of her was 2886mhz which is not bad but if I could get it to 3000 I could compete with the Intel's I5 (in graphic's that is). so I forgot to lower it even was thinking that I screwed up install of Indigo but I did not, by the way have you ever use the Indigo Extreme? weird and scary to install lol, you have to install and then disconnect ether the pump if water cooled or the fans if air cooled! I was so worried I was going to fry something lol but it works very well and could not believe the temp drop in the beginning during install I mean WOW!!!

I got it running very well again my least favorite bench prime ran for 2 hours and then shut it off. So I figure that is stable lol ( I know some say to run longer but I don't agree) and after install of all new things and a retweak I got a 8fps increase across the board so I done good

Now as far as the drivers, I got a weird one for you 266.58 a everyone says gives best result for some reason the new beta drivers work better in everything except metro2033 that I saw a big drop in min and avg fps, now I don't play it as often as I am playing more war type game lately but is there away to modify the drivers so just that one game increases? I hope you got a answer for that one ( and it better be the one I want lol)

sorry for the late reply, I myself never used indigo, heard it was pretty good. I'm settled down nicely with IC7 and aint looking back. Until something uber extreme comes out I don't think I'll be swapping TIMS any time soon, but that particular method would scare the crap out of me. lol

Regarding modding drivers, I have no idea whatsoever, sorry bud. Remember i'm still an nvidia newb

EDIT: I'll post results on the new Nvidia drivers soon, they can be found HERE (275.33 whql)

no problem on the late reply just giving you crap lol, see if you can find out anyone that knows about modding the drivers. I was not expecting miracles lol, I would check out Indigo over IC7, I used before this myself and big temp drop (after I turned down the dam volts to normal over volt settings lol the AMD cpu/nb is 1.4 high and I was at 1.48 whoops lol

well the new 275.33 fixed the metro2033 problem in fact it was the smoothest it has ever been! I am liken the new drivers mite just stay with these for good as the games I play seem to work all great no freezes or kick outs so nvidia guys nailed it for once !

Id be interested to see what you make of crysis benchmarks with these new drivers as my quick crysis benchmark kinda showed lower FPS than 266.58 drivers?

Perhaps it was an effed up bench run...after all it was quick jobby, anyway i get a slight improvement on my single GTX480 in Vantage,slight...but moving in the right direction.

Anyway i await your trusty benchmarks my good man

I be back tommorow or day after to check your posts.

The (275.33 whql) drivers are good just like the (270.51 beta) even better, the tiny flickering in BC2 is gone with new drivers. also the cards usage is very stable and exactly the same for both cards around 95%.

I haven't tried anything else but will do today .

DA2 has a flickering problem.... More of a lighting problem, like it doesn't know when to shine light from one area to another or not

Hey guys just recently Nvidia released the 275.33 which you can find HERE.

Going through the thread I found quite a few positive reactions, so I thought it maybe it's worthy of a review. Just a recap from my previous testing, SLI vs Single, the 270.51 (beta) and the 266.58 (whql) did very well. The 270.51 remained worthy of top spot for single card mode, however, the 266.58 did slighty better in SLI over the 270.51. The 275.27 beta did not do as well as the others' in both single and SLI.

As far as im aware SLI scaling is quite dependant on usage and vice versa, so I have taken ss of afterburner to help see the the actual gpu usage. I understand that there problems with drivers, from downclocking and staying in 2d or just scaling issues but I hope that these results can help

So would great to see how the new 275.33 beta driver does against the others.

here we go

Metro Benchmark tool - DX11 - 1920x1080 - Tesselation (enabled) - Very High - AAA - AF16x - No Physx or DOF GPU at 870/1740/2050

SINGLE CARD TEST - Nvidia 275.33 (SINGLE)

SLI TEST - Nvidia 275.33 (WHQL)

In a DirectX11 game we can clearly see that the 275.33 has mixed results in both single and sli mode. In single card mode it falls just below the 275.27 beta driver, but in SLI we see it actually performs better than all of them.

Now we may look at the scaling and think that is terrible in terms of the 266.58, however, the difference's are there because of the min and max fps. That basically means that scaling from single to SLI might not be up there, but because of the minmum fps and maximum fps provide a good average fps scaling in this instance is not as important.

To conclude this part, for single card mode winner is 275.27, for SLI the winner is 275.33.

Now to Crysis GPU @ 870/1740/2050

SINGLE CARD TEST - Nvidia 275.33 (WHQL)

SLI TEST - Nvidia 275.33 (WHQL)

Now so far through all the testing we have not yet come up a problem, which is good to see however it does seem that there will be no 'major' improvments between these drivers apart from newer games but it is still nice to see how it impacts on older games. Anyways the new driver has shown some improvment here really, the GPU usage pattern remained very similar to the other drivers, it indicated on average a 95% usage with both gpu's. Again core clock remained the same. In terms of performance, under single mode, it performed on par with the 275.51 beta driver. In SLI it performed well but stayed below the 266.58 as did the scaling.
To conclude this part, for single card mode winner is 270.51, for SLI the winner is still 266.58.

Now Crysis Warhead GPU @ 870/1740/2050

SINGLE CARD TEST - Nvidia 275.33 (WHQL)

SLI TEST - Nvidia 275.33 (WHQL)

Here we can see that the new driver doing better. GPU usage and scaling remained very similar. In single card mode it performed on par with the 275.27 beta driver, but did better than threst in SLI. I'm afraid not much to say about this one.
Cannot choose between the 275.27 beta and 275.33 for single mode, make your own choice about that one. For SLI it's the new driver 275.33

Lets take a look at Heaven Benchmark tool 2.1 GPU @ 870/1740/2050

SINGLE CARD TEST - Nvidia 275.33 (WHQL)

SLI TEST - Nvidia 275.33 (WHQL)

I'v tried to gather as much info as possible with heaven benchmark. Looks like the new drivers are doing rather well, both in single and SLI. With a single card score of 907 it beats the others by quite a margin. In SLI it produced a score of 1606 in comparison with previous winner of 1585, a 21 point increase.
The clear winner here is the new 275.33 for single and SLI

Finally lets take a look at vantage GPU @ 870/1740/2050

SINGLE CARD TEST - Nvidia 275.33 (WHQL)

SLI TEST - Nvidia 275.33 (WHQL)

Now these results are very interesting, the 270.51 still maintained top spot in vantage under single card mode with a score of 18542, however, under SLI the the new driver has shown an improvment from the 266.58 which is the top one for SLI so far.Again we saw in the heaven benchmark the 270.33 doing very well in comparison to the 266.58.

To conlcude, this driver mainted it's performance in older games under dx10 and even in some cases did better, however in SLI it has performed the best compared to the others.

My vote goes to the new driver, 275.33.

Hope you enjoy the review feedback is appreciated

EDIT (06/06/2011): It does seem that these drivers make your previous stable overclock unstable, however I have not done enough research on that to say anything about it. There have been reports of performance increase here and there, also as you have seen from the above, however with any driver there are issues as well. Maybe that performance boost compensates for lower overclocks or maybe it doesn't.

So lets say, if the 266.58 at 900core 2100memory produced 80fps in gaming, theoretically at the same speed the new driver does better, lets say 90fps, however the problem is that the 900core will more than likely be unstable, so you would have to drop that down to, say 850core, at the speed with the new driver it could go down to the original value of 80fps or maybe be more.

In this case imho the clock speed becomes 'irrelevant', if at a lower clock the performance is greater than that of its previous driver at a high clock then that is still great.

Your subconscious is saying "higher clocks is better" but if at a lower clock the the gpu performs better then why not go with that?

EDIT (12/06/2011):

Just a little update for the latest 275.33.

I recently installed a second os for my 3 f3's in raid 0 and now im running 2 window 7 os's as a dual boot.

My issue was simple, my boot screen disapeared. I thought I was having a bootmgr error continuously for some reason, I pop in the start up repair and it still didnt work.

Now I went through a couple of troubleshooting methods to find the problem, but none of it was working, I couldn't get the bootscreen to show up through the dvi port. Everytime I connected my other monitor through vga it works everytime and the bootscreen can be seen only through the vga port and not the dvi port/s.

Final thing I tried was roling back the nvidia driver's to 266.58. I did a clean install and unplugged the vga port and ran the dvi port to my HDTV and guess it works flawlessly.

I tried it several times and now the bootscreen and dual boot menu can be seen. The culprit was the 275.33 for some reason. Im now using the 266.58 and all is well.

Any ideas as to why the 275.33 may be causing the bootscreen to dissapear? Obviously has something to do with the resolution but everything was running default on the NVC so can't understand why.

Another thing I found was that I couldn't create custom resolutions on the 275.33 for some odd reason, it kept popping up an error about "already available via pc". Thats very important as sometimes you need to force the correct refresh rate in order for vsync to work correctly in games.

If you have a dual boot setup and don't have this problem then lucky you!!
