Review Of A Few Of The Latest Nvidia Drivers (incl* Xtreme-G) - Page 16

wow it was the first time both yours and mine did about the same in benchmark scores the only difference was metro2033 where I had much better results but I think that is because these drivers where also designed for the new 990fx chipset AMD & SLI so maybe that was the reason

lol could be, didn't realise the optimize the drivers according to the cpu. I'm sure there probably bugs that need to be fixed but so far performance wise in benchmarks it does pretty good. I think I'm gonna stay on these for some time.

I plan on sticking with them as well, plus they handle overclocking very well where the 250's did not handle very good!

And yeah if you read about the driver release on June 1st at the unveiling of the 990 chipset it stated that nvidia released the drivers for the first time to work with AMD chipset now I know that my board has nvidia chipset but I think that it helped could just be a placebo affect but what ever it was it really worked very well boosted all my benches and game play has been great in all my games which was a first that every one liked the drivers

it has been noted by member on here that the boost in performance compensates for it.

EDIT: I personally have not tested it with my max overclock so I cannot comment on that, but thanks for letting me know, I'll look into this a bit further.

Just to follow up on my last post, it does seem that these drivers make your previous stable overclocks unstable. I was thinking maybe that performance boost compensates for lower overclocks or maybe it doesn't.

So lets say, if the 266.58 at 900core 2100memory produced 80fps in gaming, we can say at the same speed the new driver does better, lets say 90fps, however the problem is that the 900core will more than likely be unstable, so you would have to drop that down to, say 850core, at the speed with the new driver it could go down to the original value of 80fps or maybe be more.

In this case imho the clock speed becomes 'irrelevant', if at a lower clock the performance is greater than that of its previous driver at a high clock then that is still great.

Your subconscious is saying "higher clocks is better" but if at a lower clock the the gpu performs better then why not go with that?

What do you guys think?

EDIT: Might be a good idea to tweak the max stable overclocks with the new driver as it might yield more performance even at a lower clock.

The clocks will increase folding speed, drivers .. meh.
