Hey guys little update on the drivers, just recently the 270.71 surfaced and kindly shared by Open1Your1Eyes0 HERE. I though it might be a good idea to see how well it does amongst the others.

Well here we go

Metro Benchmark tool - DX11 - 1920x1080 - Tesselation (enabled) - Very High - AAA - AF16x - No Physx or DOF GPU at 960c/1920s/ 2050m

As you can see hasn't done too badly, came 2nd right after the 268.03 follwed closely by the others.

Lets see how the new driver did in crysis and crysis warhead . GPU @ 870/1740/2050

Firstly Crysis:

There is minimal difference between all these drivers, It would be really hard to seperte them. Where some have slighlty higher average frames, the lack in minimum and max frames.

Now Crysis Warhead:

Same thing with Crysis Warhead, no clear winner but atleast the drivers have been consistent. Although improvments are usually anticipated, in older games it is apparent that they make very minimal differences, as this clearly shows that.

I'v kinda scracthed the idea of in game screenshots mostly because some games have impossible locations for the save games and I ususally pass the mark of that screenie. So at the moment I have left Metro 2033 dx10, homefront and crysis 2 (that is still in beta and I havn't finished playing it) Sorry about that guys, but I did add an adittion to the list, Heaven benchamark 2.1. So far from my own conclsion, I have found the best driver is 270.51 so therefore the future heaven benchamarks will carry on from the 270.51.

Heaven benchmark tool 2.1 -GPU @ 870/1740/2050

The difference between these are almost nothing. no improvements only drop in the average fps which caused the min and max frames to drop. The difference is so little that only 1 point seperate the two drivers here. Lets see the all the drivers in action in 3dmark vantage.

Vantage -GPU @ 870/1740/2050

The clear winner here in vantage is the 270.51 followed closely the 270.61. Overall it does seem that there is no clear 'best driver' for me it has been the 270.51 because of the consistancy that it has had. Unfortunatly I have yet to see a improvements over the 270.51 so im sticking to it

Hope you enjoyed the mini review. Suggestions in ways to make this better would be greatly appreciated

Nvidia is suppose to replace a new driver branch this month.. I hope so because the 270s drivers are full of bugs and caused a lot of problems for people.

All the drivers listed on this thread have worked fine for me, it does seem apparent that the 270.xx drivers have been causing problems to folders and people that are using some kind of SLI patch. Cant wait to test out these upcoming drivers. Thanks for the heads up

I went back to the Nvidia 270.51 (BETA) because 270.61 (WHQL) gave me usage sudden drops and specially in BC2 gpu usage went down to 60s.. beta best one for me

Well i hope this thread can help people when choosing a driver. If only there was a bc2 benchmark tool. Just wondering does these usage drops happen just in game or in bench's aswell. Would be interesting to know. That might be aomething I take a look at in the near future. At the moment im excited to run SLi for the first time, might do a SLI scaing test on these drivers, gonna require a lot of work but we'll see, hence the poll lol

I didn't test the sudden usage drops in benches but i noticed it also in Crysis2 and WorldInConflict that's why i jumped back to beta drivers lol.. beta working great in all games and giving 99% gpu usage with stable high SLi scaling
post #78 of 380

Oh right i guess that's where the sli scaling test will help. Im might go through most of these drivers again on friday when i'v set my SLI and hopefully i'll report back in regards to SLI scaling on these particular drivers.

ok how do i install the 268.03 drivers do i do the inf file thing???
Yea im having problems with the SLI patch on this one. MSI AB is locked (every value is set to 0 and cannot edit) and both my 460's are stuck in idle mode where they keep running at .88v and 51MHz on the core, not to mention insane flickering in anything I try to run.
