I need a new cooler for my Phenom II X4 965 and im just wondering what could I get, sicne ive never bought aftermarket CPU coolers.

Also wondering if I should buy a new case, either CM690II or HAF 912

Any suggestions ?

Big question is how much do you want to spend and will you be OCing this CPU? There are so many from the small Hyper 212 from CM to the large and powerful Nochua NH-D14. Here the new Antec A50 and A70 coolers are nice as well as the CM V6 GT cooler. Could also go with a Corsair H70 for around $100.

For cases I love the 690 II had one and wish I would not have sold it. Not a big fan of the 912 for style reasons but that is just me. I think the 690 is a bit better for fan options and cooling. You can also remove the lower HDD tray and have extra room for rad or 2 fans at bottom.

1 more vote for CM690 II...and suggest the Spire Thermax Eclipse II cooler. An excellent option in the $50-$60 range, if you are willing to go there.

Im planning to OC the CPU to about 3.7-3.8ghz.

Im living in europe, so I dont know about those US prices, but yeah.

Is there a reasonable cooler that isnt absolutely HUGE and will keep my CPU cool ?

Tower coolers are all large compared to stock. But they are the most efficient design for air.

Mine isn't too large, depending on which fans you use. This is the updated version...

What about a Akasa Venom, Akasa Venom Nano, Akasa Nero V2 or Titan Fenrir Evo ?
Im interested in that Nero cooler, not sure if anyone had it before ?

Also how big would the temp difference be between a Akasa Venom Nano and a normal one ?

Best bang for buck option is going to be CM690IIAD and CoolerMaster Hyper212+. You might want to pick up some extra fans to fill a slot or two left open in the 690. I use both that case and cooler, and have a San Ace(1011) on the cooler and rear exhaust...love it!(love the fan controller too lol!)

for a budget friendly set up get the 690/212+ and a second bushmaster fan from CM to stick on the back side of the 212+ for push pull, then get another fan for the side pannel and your doing great for cheap!! if you want it to be close to silent use another CM 140mm fan on the side pannel(same as the 690II 140 fans) and a Y splitter off the CPU fan header to tone down the bushmasters when not in use. my 2 cents hope this helps

Ok, ive decided to go with a Titan Fenrir Evo, it's pretty big, but I want to ask something first.

http://overclockers.co.uk/pimg/MB-424-AS_400.jpg

This is my motherboard, I'm using the 2 BLUE RAM slots.
Ive been told the Fenrir Evo will block the black ones, which im fine with.

Am I fine buying the cooler without worrying it will block the blue slots ?

the ram im using is 4GB DDR3 G.Skill RipjawsX

....Or maybe not.

I kept looking for coolers and noticed 2 that cought my eye,

Coolermaster Hyper 212+
Arctic Cooling Freezer PRO 13

Out of the two, which one would be a better choice and also would overclocking be possible ?

I can stick with Fenrir EVO, but im not sure if it will block the blue ram slots in the screenshot I posted, so if anyone can help me out, ill be glad.
