Asus M4A89GTDPRO/USB3 Bus Speed jumpy?!

Okay, so today I've spent a few hours trying to tweak out this 4ghz overclock on my 955x4 BE and so far I've been running into a bit of issues with the Bus speed hopping around 200.7 to 203mhz, it does it so frequently its starting to make my overclock unstable_

I was wondering if this was a common issue with this motherboard? <sigh> I just want it to stay at 200mhz as I've set it manually in the bios but it just won't stay there, its jumping between 200.7 to 203mhz and its really affecting my overclock and annoying me.

CPU Spread Spectrum is Disable so I know thats not affecting it_ & I am running on the latest bios available from Asus.

Could someone with the same motherboard confirm that this is a common issue with this motherboard??

hey I'm sorry I don't mean to hijack your thread but I don't have an answer for you. I do have a question though: what kind of memory are you using for that mobo? I am thinking about buying it, and I am using G.SKILL Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBSR... which is not listed as a supported ram on the asus website. I've heard that the documentation there is inaccurate, so I was just wondering if you are using a similar type.

Haha hey no problem, actually I am running a set of GSkill Ripjaws X, DDR3 1333mhz 8gigabyte CL7 dual channel kit(the black&blue sticks, the same kit I have in my Sandybridge PC), these sticks were design for the P67 Intel motherboards but they do work with AMD too as I've found out, right now I have them overclock at 1600mhz with 8-9-8-24-1T Timings and still at 1.5volts_

I believe those GSkill Sniper will work just fine, (You do have to manually set the Voltage since this motherboard seems to set the Auto voltage at 1.65volts so just set it to whatever your ram specs said to)

Mine jumps aswell, but from 200 to 201.3 MHz

I hope you have the CPU LLC disabled, right?

LLC tends to screw my frequencies.

cool thanks! I appreciate it. That is odd it would set DDR3 to 1.65, since that is the default voltage for DDR2 I believe. In any case, it is good to hear you successfully overclocked your ram, that is one of the reasons why I am getting a new board. Good luck with your issue, hopefully I don't run into the same thing.

Well, it seems after using the motherboard(Under heavy stress testing for a good 24hours now) Its still jumpy _ Damn bus speed, anyhow the jumpiness is now not as much as before, It rarely jumps but once in a while it seems to do it on its own_

Looks like the bus speed has a mind of its own, it just won't sit at 200mhz but I suppose I'll live with it_

If you were going to buy that RAM, hold back or return it - there are better 1600Mhz kits for lower prices
