Just did my first OC, but clock speed dropped back to original? - Page 2

It's possible even that little of a multi jump is unstable and your MOBO is resetting your clock to default. Try setting the multi to 18x again, but add a little core voltage this time.

This is very odd, never heard of this before.

I'm using AMD Overdrive and Core Temp. Both showed only 3.4GHz

... Sigh. Core Temp won't reflect the changes in your BIOS. It will always show your stock clocks. Like I said, please use CPUz as it will show your clock changes etc. That is your problem right there.

I thought OP was using CPU-z to begin with, thus me using the words CPU and z in many areas.

But how come Core Temp showed it at 3.6GHz at first, and then it dropped to 3.4GHz? I will download CPUz right now as well.

Just installed CPU-Z and that shows 3.4GHz as well. Now what?

Is it showing 3.4Ghz during a stress test? If it is, go into the BIOS and try disbaling AMD's Cool & Quiet control. That might be giving you problems.

I can't see anything in the BIOS that says "Disable AMD Cool n Quiet". Where specifically is it in the BIOS?

Should be in the advanced BIOS features. AMD C1E and AMD K8 CnQ. Disable those.
