I have a 27" iMac with the i7 870, my CPU idles at about 35 C and I haven't seen it go over 60 under load. Not bad temps at all considering it's a quiet all in one system, with a quad core desktop CPU inside of a monitor basically. Yes the case can get warm to the touch at the top because it's aluminum and all the heat escapes through it. The case acts kind of like a heat sink.

As for price, it really isn't bad for what you get, despite all the myths about Macs costing 2x or 3x more than a custom built PC. I've priced out comparable builds to my iMac and they cost just as much or more (this was even more the case last summer when I bought it)

Also I don't think dual booting with Windows "defeats the point" of a Mac or anything, I think it's the best of both worlds!

I have been wondering, do the fact that these iMacs run "M" GPUs, is that referring to the GPU being a mobile, or laptop GPU, or is it just a Mac thing? Because I know that there are specific GPUs coined "Mac" GPUs.

Also, congrats on OSX, I have been running Snowy on my hackintosh (no I did not just say that), and I love it, everything except the darn jittery mouse and not being able to use both of my GPUs.

It's referring to a mobile GPU. The 4850 mobility, etc.

Haha it's a great OS, I'm really looking forward to Lion. I love Windows 7, too. Although, not as much

Lemme explain, first of all the 27" imac has a 2560x1440 monitor built into it, these go for 1000$ usually, so the i5, 5770, ect goes to about 700-800 iirc, then the rest of the money is warrnaty, shipping and all the other stuff.

So honestly, no.
You have to realize how much Apple pays for these panels. They get them from LG in Korea.

In Korea a panel as good as the iMac panel, (27" 2560x1440 LED backlit) can be had for $350 new.

That gives a lot of perspective on the price of the panel.

This is called business.

As far as heat is concerned I do not see why people say it doesn't cool properly. That heat you feel on the backside is heat being taken away from the computer. What don't people get about that. If the backside is really hot, then a really large ammonut of heat is being dissipated.
