Water cooling help

Thread Starter
So I am trying to get my first water cooling rig up and running and I am having some issues. The main one is that I am getting almost no flow to my cpu. One thing to note is that I am getting no movement in the water in my res. My cpu block and compression fittings are heating up but my tubing going in/out and all other parts of my loop are cool.

Everything was leak tested and working outside my case earlier today. Loop is as follows: I&H res > MCP 655 > HW SR-1 560 > EK HF Supreme > Ek Rampage III Extreme Mobo block > EK 6970 >EK 6970 > Res

I check for kinks and I realized about an hour ago that I had the inlet/outlet on my cpu block swapped frown.gif So i let it cool and changed it.

How can you tell there is almost no flow in/out of the CPU block? When I fill my res nearly full I cannot see the water moving, it is only when the water level is really low that it becomes apperant. What are your temps?

I was just guessing there wasnt much movement because of how still the water in my res was. It was really still like 5 mins after refilling which it wasnt when I leak tested everything.

My system shuts down because my cpu over heats. Just starts off at about 45C and steadily raises till I shut down.

What pump do you have and what components are there in your loop?

There could be the chance you're pump isn't man enough for the loop.

Aside from that is the pump actually pumping? (does it vibrate when you power on)

Even if everything were hooked up wrong it would still flow some. Enough to keep it from overheating. Most likely the pump is not on or not set to "5" if you have the variable one. The 655 itself should be able to push through that although it is pushing it. Two huge video cards and a cpu with a chipset thrown in may be a bit much to get really good performance. Two loops would be ideal with that equipment.

i know this sounds stupid but did u put the inlet and outlet right on d pump? even if u put them the wrong way u shud see movement in the res.might be a dead pump? water still should move around d loop even if the pump is nt strong enuf and like one of d comments above.it should be enuf to handle the stuff so it doesnt overheat.temps might nt be great but shudnt overheat.is the pump being powered? any vibration or sound in the pump? not trying to make u look stupid, jus trying to rule everything out.
