Realtemp or CPU-Z Lying about clock speed?

Found this interesting and its been bugging me for a while.
CPU-Z shows what my clock is in the BIOS and RealTemp shows it at 6x multiplier.
I've also seen RealTemp fluctuate between 8.5x and 6x (Though ATM it isn't fluctuating it's been setting at 6x for several minutes.

Not sure if there are known bugs for either program on Windows 7 64-bit

Edit: Cores 1 & 2 are at 3.6GHz (on CPU-Z) but 3 & 4 are at ~2550MHz just as RealTemp shows.
Im still new to overclocking what exactly does that mean?

Thanks

Do you have the intel power save features disabled in the BIOS I.E C1E/Speedstep?

Yes I've disabled everything that lowers CPU performance automatically due to temperature or load.

And the clock is staying at 2.5GHz at 1% load and 30-40%

How do you know what cores are at what speeds? I don't know of any feature in CPU-Z or realtemp that shows you how fast each core is currently.... Have you tried running some sort of benchmark?

If it were me I would run four instances of F@H and record the TPF for each core on the same WU... You should be able to tell if there is a speed difference.

Though Im just going to guess its an error in real temp. Have you tried updating it? I've never seen cores run at different speeds (not even sure it can be done).

Where CPU-Z says Selection at the bottom then Processor 1, I right click and it showed me the speed for all cores. the last 2 were lower - but I just got out of fiddling around in the BIOS a little and realtemp and CPU-Z are showing everything at the correct clock, it's either happens sporadically or the few settings I changed fixed it, though to remember the exact settings Id have to reboot and find it in the BIOS then write it down which I am not up for ATM. I will try what you suggested if it happens again.

Edit: Here is an example of it showing multicore clocks, but they are all at the same speed now, before they were not.

Well here it goes again, pic is showing that 2 cores are at lower speed, made sure the setting were right in BIOS so that clock speed wasn't getting lowered automatically and my CPU-Z is up to date..
