i7 2600k - Page 2

Your temps are quiet high. My Silver Arrow (about the same as a NH-D14) keeps my 4.5GHz 2600k under 65C during stress tests.

You should be well under 60C during stress tests.

You may want to ensure a proper Cooling seat...

Benchmark reviews has an excellent article on the subject, around page three they start talking about actual installation.

Just for a test! Why don't you try the easy overclock button in the bios, and see what temps that gives you
And if that gives you cooler temps, then it's your settings!
But if the temps are just as bad. Then maybe you need to re-do the CPU cooler

That button gives me 4.4GHz

Oh, and this one gave me 4.944GHz

@ACHILEE5, is that Asus' UEFI? If it is, I think I'll start finding can's to redeem at the recycling center and mow people's grass to further fund my next build.... look at my system in my signature...how can I overclock with that?!

See if you can find a video on how to properly install your cooler. Perhaps you missed an important step. Even if you can't find anything, take your cooler off and look at it. If your cpu/cooler is too curved, you may have not used enough thermal paste. You will be able to tell by how spread it is over the cpu. The perfect thermal paste distribution would be a very, VERY thin layer touching the entire surface of the cpu and cooler.
