Disagree. Vista is vey very unoptimsed.

In my PC, with basic drivers and couple of other spftware and an AV it uses 1.5 GB RAM!

I just dont know why its so much of a memory hogger.

Windows 7 can be safely called a Optimsed Version of Windows Vista. Hence, it got the success which Vista couldnt get.

Win 7 has its quirks and issues as well. Every OS does.

My VM disagrees with you, running WMP, MSN and Firefox (As a test environment) nets Vista at ~2,1GB and 7 at 2.08GB.

how much ram does a fresh install of windows 7 net you? i can answer for myself on that one, just did a recent install of 7, installed MSE, my drivers and FF4, and all updates (including sp1), it was hovering about 1.5 GB (might have been a bit more, will boot into it later, if it is different i will post results, as its still virtually untouched since installing it.)

The only reason I like XP more than Windows 7 (and barely) is because EVERYTHING works on it. I like to play Diablo 2 and Windows 7 doesn't like Diablo 2 haha

I agree. I don't understand how Vista is plagued as the worse windows OS ever and Windows 7 is the best, while they are very similar. IMO windows ME is worse then Vista.

Well, my pc runs Win 7 enterprise. And with just neccesary Nvidia drivers and other drivers I use only around 500 mb of ram.
Total Ram of my pc is 2 gb. I have disable page file.

Spend most of my time optimising my pc.

In xp it uses just 168 mb.
