Gotta agree with most the other peeps on this thread. Never really had a huge driver issue on anyone of my sig rigs. AND has some CF probes but the SLI are just about the same. For single cards I have never had a problem.

So to give an update on what's going on with my card, I have uninstalled all previous drivers (as I've done 3 times before) and installed the 11.4 beta with some decent results. I can run Borderlands, Force Unleashed, etc. successfully (haven't tried DA2 yet) but Borderlands crashes as I close the game...runs fine when I am playing the game though.

The last time I posted my bsod details nobody really seems to have tried to lodge any advice to me on it, but here's the details from the Borderlands crash after closing the game:

*** STOP: 0x0000003b (0x00000000c0000005, 0xfffff80002bf90f3, 0xfffff88009618b90,
0x0000000000000000)

*** dxgmms1.sys - Address 0xfffff8800480866b base at 0xfffff88004800000 DateStamp
0x4d3fa174

All games aside from DA2 are all played on Steam, don't know if that has anything to do with it but I figured I'd just throw that out there.

Only ati driver fail I have ever had was when I pressed the maximize button on a youtube vid as i was tabbing back into a game. Other than that nothing else has ever happened to me. Before that I had a lot of driver crashes with my 9800gt with BFBC2 and WoW (which lost me arenas :'( ). Pick your poison really, Driver issues vary with users.

You'll be back here complaining about Nvidia's drivers in a bit once you make the switch.

Changing a gpu does not and never will fix user error.

So normally I would assume people's responses would be garnered from reading through the other responses in the thread to make sure their comments are relevant to where the thread has gone...since yours isn't I'll chalk that up to user error

Seriously, when you post...please post something relevant with either advice or some type of quantitative insight (i.e. - benchmarks, statistics, etc.), instead of just reading the initial post and assuming I'm an idiot who doesn't know how to install a graphics card. If you read, you'll see I've done many driver wipes, that my current install of Windows 7 is a clean install onto an SSD I got 3 months ago, and all of this wonderful bashing that I'm getting from people still isn't resolving anything.

I've posted two blue screen error codes I've gotten so far in this thread (the initial one, and the one I stated in a recent previous post). So if you are going to come in here and talk smack, put up or shut up. Any dork with a computer can come in here and call something an ID10T error because someone finds their beloved chipset preference to be sub-par or ill-planned. If you can offer some sound advice, I'll stand corrected and retract my statement...but so far it's looking like it will stand.

Still sounds like user error or a bad OC. Can you pass prime95 blend test? Running 8GB of RAM on a Phenom II C2 stepping is no easy task to stabilize.

I ran 5870s in both single and crossfire configuration and never had any serious problems. I had one game "Zeno Clash" exhibit shadow flickering with crossfire enabled and that's the only thing I can remember. With my 480 and launch drivers, I had nothing but problems. I recently bought a 580 because I got it for cheap and haven't had any problems yet though. ATI drivers aren't as bad as most people make them out to be, and that's especially true in single card configurations.

This.

I have a 5770 and I have never encountered those issues, and I have been playing all of those games. I've been an ATI user forever and I'm careless as **** with my driver updates; I don't read into them or investigate, I just update once and a while when I think of it, and to this day I've never had an issue with my ATI cards. Never.

Problems like the one you're describing will happen to both brands. Just because nV has better drivers, doesn't mean ATI has obscenely bad ones. It's a huge misconception.

At most prices, I would say ATI is a better value this generation, but not by some insanely large margin. If you want to try nV then it's not a bad time at all, I just think it's stupid reason to switch "sides". Taking a "side" won't ever work out for a person anyway. What you're experiencing just comes down to bum luck, and switching totally to nV is the solution to a problem that doesn't actually exist.

That is a failed memory BSOD,which can be caused by just about everything in your PC.Also the atikmdag.sys is a overclock fail 99% time.As Dopamin3 stated-running 8GB RAM can be very stressfull on the IMC.Why,I bet your board doesn't even list it as supported. You probably have to up the voltages just to run stock speeds stable.
