Yup. If your phone supports it, you can get a line out and possibly better sounding tunes by bypassing your phones onboard amp. Probably not needed with the ohm rating on those cans.

Studio Beats for $150 refurbished. I'm having a tough time myself deciding between the M50s and these. The price of the Beats seem too good to pass up...

Anyone know where to find REAL Audio Technica ATH-M50s for $100 or under?

oh hell no on the Beats. um, what's your budget?
How do you intend to use the headphone?
music tastes?

Read reviews. Too many people hate on Beats just because they are popular. Too many biased comments imo. There is a difference between paying wayy to much and actually getting what you pay for. Studio Beats aren't worth the $350 retail, but for $150? Come on..

A $90 headphone beats it (Alienware Ozma 5), so does the M50. Not to mention that at that price, it hints of fake. People don't hate it cuz it's popular, people hate it cuz they are aware of the better alternatives. For $150, you can get the Ultrasone Pro550 = kills the Beats.

Also quality of reviews over quantity of reviews. e.g. you won't get like an audio related site to review PC cases would you? Why? Because that's not their speciality and they aren't expert in that field. Same applies the other way around.

the Beats have nothing going for it except for marketing and materialistic social conformity. Other noise cancelling headphones for the same price / cheaper isolate better, others sound FAR better for cheaper, others look better AND sound better for cheaper, a lot have far better build quality.....

Massive shootout that includes the Beats from a well respected reviewer: http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/...5g-added-04-07

My budget's around $125. And I mostly listen to dubstep and techno, but occasionally some alternative and rock.

Nice. I love Rusko and Caspa and uh ... Who else? I haven't really gotten into too much dubstep on account of the heavy DNB that I know so well. I listen to a lot of techno and acoustic stuff too and need my cymbals as well as my bass and they all need to be clear. Budget is $150, those audiotechnicas look sick! The Ultrasone's don't look bad either. Nice thread BTW, thought I'd jump in since I'm looking for some phones too.

Shure SRH750DJ. Some people do have comfort issues however.
