q9550 vs i5 760

post #1 of 32
Thread Starter
for 2 years now my "abit ip35 pro" and q9550 with 4gb ram serves me well at home.
i have the opportunity to upgrade to "asus p7h55-m le" with an i5 760 for no cost.
os is windows 7 x64.

should i do it?
the rig is usually for gaming,web browsing and downloading.
shall i gain fps?
shall i feel snappier in the desktop?

i love my ip35 pro and i feel strange to give it away.!!!

the pitty is that "asus p7h55-m le" is very cheap and has no esata, no firewire, no overclocking options in bios.
what advantages should i get from this upgrade?

Sure, why not if its free. But if you're willing to spend some money, then 2500k is a huge improvement.

Why do you have to get rid of the Q9550? If it's free, bench the two against each other and find out.

i have to keep one or another, cant keep both.
3dmark vantage got 19500 with i5 instead 18500 with q9550.
but is this a reason to change?
also with winrar v4 benchmark (alt+b)
i5 = 2750
q9550 = 1400

If it's free, get the i5. You can always replace the motherboard later for a better quality one and OC that sucker.

It's definitely worth it. I miss my p55 set up =/

Since it's free, you should "pay it forward" and give me the one you don't keep! smile.gif Or donate it to the auction for Syrillian.
