Looking for a new router

Thread Starter
I would like a new wireless router with the following features, I hope OCN members could point me in the right direction

Features wanted:
B/G/N Wireless
100/1000MB Port Speed
USB 2.0 Support to add a External Hard Drive (This must have decent speed!)
Port Forwarding
Budget price, brand doesn't matters

I have already checked out the TP-Link TL-WR1043ND but the USB port on it is a bit slow in my opinion. Also people are reporting firmware issues and freezups with it.

Advices, suggestions are needed.

Thanks,
Marky

Okay a good place to start is DD-WRT hardware list.
What this you actually get a list to help you narrow your choices down.
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices

Everything you asked for is on this list. And the list is pretty intensive but very well organized and frequently updated.
The reason for give you a DD-WRT list is because it give you a second choice of what hardware supports DD-WRT firmware just incase **cough** stock is not living up to your expectations.

DD-WRT ftw.
I'm a buffalo user myself, but that's just me
WZR-HP-G300NH may be a good buy.

For under $80 i would suggest the netgear 3500L. Flashable, bugget, very good preformance. I have the 3500L flashed with dd-wrt mini usb .bin file, haven't used yet but specs are good. Running about three months now DL large amounts of date without a hicop or fart.
Took me two weeks to decide, glad i opted this one.

The Netgear WNR-3500L indeed looks promising, i just coulnd't find any data regarding its USB port read/write speeds. My only concern about the new router is it's USB processing speed really.

Thanks in advance,
Marky

I also recommend this router, I have it flashed with DD-WRT and it has been running great ever since I got it at the beginning of this year.

What kind of service do you have?

ADSL/VDSL ect?

I have VDSL.

The Buffalo (WZR-HP-G300NH) is not available in my country, or is sold out for at least year.

So at the moment, out of these which would have the best speed on its USB port?

D-Link DIR-655
TP-Link TL-WR1043ND
Netgear WNR-3500L
