Palit GTX 460 Sonic acting weird

Thread Starter
I had no problems running games at my max settings a few days ago but when i tried playing them today, i'm like getting 25fps. 1600x900 for all the games(BFBC2, L4D2, BlackOps). I'm not sure why my fps dropped so much.

This is the result that i got running 3dmark vantage(Performance).

Am i getting the results that i should be getting?

Sorry you haven't gotten any help, I looked at your thread yesterday and couldn't think of anything past the most basic troubleshooting that could be accounting for your problem. So now I guess I will give what little help I can. Since it looks like your 460 is running at it's stock clock then I suppose we can rule out an unstable OC but if you see you GPU clocks drop down to 405MHz while playing a game then that would indicate a faulty factory OC that you would either have to add more voltage to, or send it back. One thing to try would be reinstalling the drivers for the GPU and see if that does anything. Only other thing I can think of is it might possibly be the card reverting to 2D clocks even while running a 3D game so what you can do is go into the Nvidia Control Panel and under manage 3d settings and then global setting you can try changing the performance mode from "adaptive" to "prefer maximum performance".

I also don't have very much context to say whether or not your 3DMark score is where it should be or not, but I hope I helped or at least got the ball rolling for other people to help you. Good luck.

That vantage P score is pretty low, but I'm guessing that's a result of the CPU more than anything else.

The graphic score is a little low too, considering the factory OC, but again that's probably the CPU bottlenecking you.

I don't see anything obviously wrong with your system. Nothing that would explain a sudden drop in performance anyway

What was it? The prefer maximum performance? Very glad to have helped, I wish I would have posted earlier now but I really was kinda drawing a blank, didn't think I would have been able to help.

Also I'm glad to see that after I posted plenty of more people came in and offered what help they could, I really felt bad seeing this guy get no help for 2 days straight. Glad it's fixed now!
