New to OCing

Thread Starter
I have a question if anyone would care to jump in on it.

Would it be better to OC the multiplier or step up the FSB and just leave the multiplier at stock?

Correct me if I'm wrong in the way I worded anything but I'm new and trying to understand just how this is done.

Multiplier

Speaking for your Phenom, usually there's a multiplier limit that'd you have to hit before starting to bump up FSB, so more multiplier, it draws less power.

But if you're speaking of any unlocked multiplier CPU, go wild lol.
Also, welcome to OCN.

Welcome to OCN, I say do both, squeeze out a little speed from your ram with a fsb OC and up the multi's too

Thank you, pretty awesome community here. Kicking myself for not finding it sooner. =)

Thanks for the info, I'm gonna catch up on reading some of these OC tutorials on here.

Start with using the multi and then work on the fsb. Multi will allow you to just up ur CPU while fsb will affect ur CPU, ram, and north bridge speeds

With a CHIV and a BE always better to use both. It really does make a lot of difference by opening up the bandwidth and you have a real nice setup to work with. Check the Link in my sig and come join us in the Asus Crosshair Formula/Extreme Club if you'd like some good info and good people to help you. You might want to have a look at this thread to help you learn the basics http://www.overclock.net/amd-general...ing-guide.html it also has a lot of good info plus it'll give you a path to follow. If you have any questions feel free to ask in our thread or PM me. Always happy to help those that ask!
