Getting a new keyboard soon. need advice - Page 3

They were probably born on blue Cherry keyboards.

I'm no Starcraft pro, but after a year with browns, I tried out the other types of switches, and while gaming you don't even notice those subtleties. I think anyone else that has lots of experience with mechanical keyboards can say, it's just preference. One isn't better than the other, they're all Cherry MX switches. Just pick one you like.

Wow. This is like the opposite of what everyone who has ever touched a mec keyboard has said. Blues are not great at double tapping at the level of game play equal to Olympic gaming. They are still good games, better than any mushy rubber dome. According to all the reviews I trust (2cables and manyac (sp?)) all agree that is is a good board for gaming.

If you are a touch typist it will be a great board for you but if your a hunt'n pecker like me you will still enjoy it.

Frankly I couldn't care less about the mech integhralism, I'm seeking for nice input devices, and if a rubber dome is nice, is ok for me.

Then you have to take in account that "rubber dome" means nothing.

There are zillions of variations, often unrelated to the keyboard price.

Look at the MS sidewinder X6, is one of the worst thing that your fingers can touch, while the older reclusa is definitely a great keyboard, with a tactile feeling that (for my taste) is way better than any black MX cherry w/o the drawbacks of a blue cherry KB, on the gaming matter.

Saying that a mech keyboard is SURELY better than a rubber dome or a scissor one is like saying that a gasoline engine is surely better than a diesel one.

I would put most scissor switches as closer to mech than rubber, such as the model M or the X4. The reclusa was on of the few keyboards I had to return do to simple badness and that takes a lot.

For me I would probably go with an X4 because it will be quieter as I bottom out all the time and sleeping family hates it. But this cheep Irocks I have now is by far better to type on and game on than the g15 that's gathering dust in the closet and every other rubber dome I have ever tried.

WoW is a social game, the blues will help you type faster, and both sc2 and WoW will play great on blues as i don't think you need much double tapping

"a gasoline engine is surely better than a diesel one." may be true, but if I am asked what sport car to get I am mostly sure that diesel will not be on the list But both Volvo and VW are trying to make me wrong there too

haha, I brought the Blackwidow/G9X... so far the keyboard sounds f**king sexy!, but I'm so use to having the CTRL key on the edge of the keyboard, I keep pressing the macro key instead. LOL!

The G9x, Love the grip feel of the mouse and the extra perks... but the MOUSE 3 button seems to require alot of pressure for it to go through.

Thanks all.

I agree with you, I got bwu and g700, me too i'm enjoying the clicky clicky blues, I think for everyone that wants to get into the mech keyboard world should start with a Blue switch imo, and no first kb won't be the last kb so get ready to drain a hole in your wallet....

Indeed, the thinkpads or the logitech perfect stroke are really really great keyboards although (atm) not aimed to gamers (lack NKRO), other are just crap, other are in the middle.

Not liked the bulkiness of the reclusa, but other than that was a KB with a good tactile feeling, and also durable, i sold it after two years of heavy use and was exactly like the day one, in both look and feel.

Never tried the X4, I just hope that is an improvement over the X6, I can't imagine anything worse, even on the 5$ region.

I agree.

A diesel Audi won the 24 Hours of Le Mans 6 year ago...

I think that the day when we will see a diesel car in F1 is not too far...
