DX11 fixes BC2 crashes.

Just got off 4 hours of straigth BC2. Not one crash. Usually 20 mins is good. What did I do? TSIA

I used to have the audio go all staticy and then the game fuzz and crash. I could then not run any hardware accelerated apps without imminient crashing. Rebooting was my only solution. So if you have a DX11 card........this might help.

I say it's placebo, the game already selects DX11 as it's default setting when your card supports it.
RenderAheadLimit 12? Are you kidding me? Turn that down to 0, also turn HBAO and Bloom to off for a better gaming experience.
While you're at it, max out your aniso to 16 (4 in config), since that does not give a performance hit nowadays.

Here's my config:
Code:
[WindowSettings]
Width=1920
Height=1080
Fullscreen=true
RefreshRate=60
VSync=false < removes mouse input lag
[Sound]
Quality=high
VoipEnable=false
SpeakerCount=2
[Graphics]
Effects=low < smoke/explosions can sometimes cause lower fps.
Soldiers=high
Vehicles=high
Overgrowth=high
Undergrowth=high
StaticObjects=high
Terrain=high
Shadows=medium
Bloom=false < bloom is only annoying on light maps.
HSAO=false < barely noticable setting, and gives a huge decrease in fps.
MSAA=1 < BC2 has terrible support for AA, 2x AA removes most of the annoying jaggies.
Water=medium < don't put this to low, because it will remove the ability to see mines in the water.
MainQuality=custom
Texture=high
DxVersion=11
Aniso=4 < No reason not to max Anisotropic filtering ever.
Detail=high
RenderAheadLimit=0 < reduce mouse input lag, could be placebo but 12 fps is extreme.
Fov=84

Why would I turn down renderahead limit? I want to see the whole map, not trees sprouting out of the grand in front of me.

And no it ain't placebo, I had it set to 10, and I changed it to 11. HBAO adds some really nice lightning, I ain't gonna take it off. AF & AA are frame hogs.

EDIT: Renderahead is something else then I thought. My bad. No wonder Fraps was lagging a bit more.

Also Bloom keeps resetting it's self. It won't go away without HBAO.

Yes there is a slight difference in lighting with HBAO, but also look at the fps on these screens:

http://img222.yfrog.com/img222/8094/hbao10.png

Edit: Bloom resets itself if you change advanced settings in the menu.
AF is not a frame hog, AA only a few fps if at all. Nothing close to the fps you lose with HBAO.

My BC2 crashes a few minutes into the first lunch if my gtx 460 is overclocked to 900mhz. The second lunch works perfect. =\\

Ok I'll try HBAO off. I know it hogs 15 fps lol.
