2600k running hot

Thread Starter
So my sig rig is running the 2600k at 4.0Ghz right now.

The thing is, is that it's running it at 85 degrees at 100% load with a Cosair h50.

This doesn't seem right.

Does anyone know what could be the problem?

Yeah that definately doesnt seem right , try reseating your H50. You can get 4.0 on sotck voltage , or did you raise the volts for this OC?

Thats seems hot ! I beleive you want it around 70,ish for 24/7 peice of mind!

H-50,s a re easy to install! Was installed correctly? Was the thermal paste damaged ?

Are you using one fan? if so try a push/pull set up!

I would try reseating your h-50 !

What are you using to load the CPU 100%? What's the core voltage when the CPU is under load? That 85C... is that the temp of the hottest core when under load?

Sounds like you may be using an auto setting for core voltage in your bios and it's providing way more than needing resulting in a much higher temp than expected.

Could also be a bad H50 mount.

Wow , i'm using 1,175 for my 2500K?
Stock cooler temps <75c

Lower the voltage

Check what you minimum is to be stable

Have you changed the BLCK at all or just the multiplier? You really shouldn't need 1.3 to get to 4.0.

I would reset the BIOS and do a stress test to see what your temps look like. That way you can at least determine if it the cooler giving your problems or the OC settings.

Lower your voltage until you aren't stable. Bump it up one point where it was stable. Record lower temperatures. Win.

yeah it's working. I was using it for my Q6600 a couple days ago.

Right now I'm at 4.3 with 1.3v HT off. 85C

I'm going to start lowering the vcore and raising the multiplier

And no I didn't change the BLCK at all. I only changed the multiplier and voltage.

Edit: the motherboard automatically set the vcore to 1.345 to be able to reach 4.3 Ghz..
