Mosfet cooling

Thread Starter
I currently have an asus m4A78lt-m mobo with a 1075t

Im going to do a smallish overclock.

Getting new cpu fan in the next few weeks.

My enzotech mos-c1's arrived yesterday so will fit them when i fit the fan.

What i want to know is if there is any ppint rigging 2 x 40mm fans above the mosfet heatsinks?

That's a 4+1 phase, if I'm not mistaken, so from this guide,

Quote:
Look for a minimum 4+1 phase on the board. Higher is better though.
Be SURE it is of quality; if so,
preferably low RDS
A proper 2-transistor/driver design that is not cheaped out
On a brand that is not known for failures.
If you are overclocking with a high TDP processor and a 4+1, consider MOSFET/VRM cooling a MUST. Some boards may already have this. Fewer phases will overheat much easier.
I'd say READ that guide before proceeding, and forced convection is a good idea.

Putting even 40MM fans apparently can drastically decrease the temps

The board is equipped with OCP though, no need to be worried about overloading/failure, just if the board can actually support that kind of TDP and not activate OCP too often due to overheating

I read through ur post thanks.

I have ordered 2 40mm fans max rpm of 6,500 should keep them cooler.

If i hook the fans straight to my power supply will that make them permanantly run at max speed or is it still best to put them onto fan points on the mobo?

At the moment i am at 3.5 ghz overclock on standard cooler with no mosfet coolers on or anythign else but 120mm case fans. My case temp is around 30C if i remeber correcrtly (at work atm). max my cpu gets after 3 hours of prime95 is 58C.

Would you mind the noise? You might want to put em on a fan splitter and connect them to mobo control or so since they might be noisy at full speed

I might try it on psu power first and see how noisy they are and if its bad chuck em onto mobo
