How should I play Half-Life?

Thread Starter
I've owned these half life games for a while, but never had the chance to get into them. What order should I play them in?

Thx in advance

Chronologically would be the best way to go. Im not sure about Opposing force and Blue shift though.

I agree with this.

Leave the HL1 expansions for later, you don't want to get burned out and they're not really necessary to get the full HL experience.

To play them chonologically, you would start with Half Life, then Opposing Force, and Blue Shift ( to get the other side's persepective) then on to Half Life 2 and so on you will not need to play Lost Coast, as it is not in the storyline, and is more of a tech demo.

Id avoid the first half life. So old looking & boring by todays standards. I couldn't even get half way a year or two ago before getting so bored.

Half Life 2 is all you need, Its the bomb. Words cant describe how advanced for its time it was. Loast coast was an epic demo too. Superior water, textures lighting. Episode 1 is boring imo, too much urban tight stuff. Episode 2 is great.

I respectfully disagree. HL1 is a classic and OP should at least give it a chance. It's one of my favorite games of all time.
