Eh, even if Lost Coast is a tech demo (HDR), I'd still play it for for the HDR and it was quite enjoyable.

HL1 is not boring at all OP, don't listen to people saying it is. It has a captivating storyline and the gameplay is amazing. Start with HL1, then the expansions then move on to HL2 and Episodes 1 and 2. Then when you're finished Lost Cost is a fun one to play as well.
