New fast hdd for old laptop

Thread Starter

I got a ageing toshiba p300 156, I use it for gaming and it serves me well, actually its just ok.
Its got 2 drive bays and only 1 250gb 5400 hdd fitted. I dont care too much about space, just something faster will make me happy. Should i keep the 250gb for windows and buy a new 7200rpm hdd for games ect, or just chuck the old drive and just use the new 7200rmp drive.

I was looking at this hdd:

Thats about the limit of my budget, is there anything better for the money or should i keep my money as the speed increase wont be all that?

The 250 would still serve you well as a second drive or an external drive, I don't think you're going to see a lot of performanc increase in games from switching to a 7200 rpm drive, just a shorter battery life. If you can save a couple more $$ and buy a decent 64gb ssd, you'll see much better performance, longer battery life and it will breathe some new life into an older laptop
