Sandy Bridge System

Thread Starter
Hi, guys

It has been a while since I built my last PC. Now a friend has asked me to put a system together. It will be used mainly for light weight applications and gaming. Here is what I came up with (haven't looked at Intel CPUs for a while now):

Mainboard ASUS Sabertooth P67 B3
CPU Sandy Bridge I7 2500K
CPU Cooler Default Intel cooler should be fine
RAM Corsair CMX8GX3M2A1333C9, 2x4GB, DDR3-1333, CL9@1.5V

GPU Asus GTX-560 Ti DCII 1GB GDDR5, PCI-E x16 + CRYSIS 2

HDD Samsung HD103SJ, F3
PSU Seasonic X-660 (SS-660KM) Gold - 660 Watt

Case Lian Li PC-8NB (maybe the NZXT Phantom because it is red )

DVD/CDSamsung SH-S223L, 22x DVD±RW Writer, SATA, LS, black

Are you familiar with the cases? The NZXT Phantom is probably the better case of these two.
Any compatibility issues with the hardware?
Now these parts pretty much stretch the available budget so there isn't that much wiggle room.

Thanks for your help and suggestions,

GreenStone

Could you please explain why the 2500K? There won't be any overclocking for this PC.

EDIT:

Oh...I forgot that one existed...pretty much the same for much cheaper

"light weight applications" do not warrant the 4 extra virtual cores and extra L2 cache of the 2600k

A 2500k will be more than enough for your friend

If it's only being used for gaming and "lightweight" applications then the hyperthreading of the 2600k will not show any advantage.

But why not overclock, it is unbelievably easy to do with these things. Getting to 4.0-4.5 would be a piece of cake and would only require modest voltage increases to get to the upper end of that spectrum.

To be honest, I'm no overclocker and don't think my friend is into that either ^^
And thanks for the 2500K suggestion. That makes a lot of sense, guys
Are there any particularly good coolers for the 1155? (that aren't too expensive either)

If you're definitely not going to overclock, get the 2500. It's $30 cheaper.
