Really?

You do realize it is just 3 matched set of ram for triple channel right. Where as dual channel it 2 sticks matched. Example you can take 2 triple channel sets and make 3 dual channel kits out of it.

Because you can only run 4 sticks of ram. As i assume you have 2 triple channel kits for the 12Gb of ram. So that is 6 sticks of ram. Unless you are magic and can get 6 sticks of ram into 4 slots then yes. You have to remove some to use just 4 sticks.

i thought so too lol.

yes, he could run just two of his three sticks of ram (granted he has a 3x4gb setup, system info is so helpful here), but that sucks because now he is limited to 8gb of his 12gb ram setup. i guess he could sell the other stick if he wanted.

i still don't recommend going to sb from what the op has right now.

First of all, you should always list your full system specs!

Also, stick with the 930.

Having a 5.0 Ghz 2600k would be awesome, but unless you're actually going to use that raw processing power for encoding or something of the like (or you just want to spend the money to try something new- understandable), you will see no difference when playing games if you already have a decent graphics card paired with your 930 at 4.0+ Ghz.

I'd save that money for an Ivy Bridge setup or upgrade your GPU for now if you need a better one, etc.

Just wait, you would be better off spending that money on a ssd, those are the single most "feelable" upgrade you can do right now. When I put mine in, my computer felt twice as fast.
