Cherry ML switches.

So I'm looking into a new Keyboard. I like the look of the Cherry Slim-line G844100PTAUS, but the OCN guide on mech switches does not represent Cherry ML series switches. Is anyone familiar with Cherry ML(Low notebook profile, 0.272 inch)series switches? Would this Keyboard be good for gaming?

Thanks for reading,

I have a Cherry G84-4101SPAUS with ML switches. It's very small & portable and ok to type on (if you hate those laptop keyboard and bring this one along) but haven't tried gaming on it yet. For me, either black or Leopold's brown switches are perfect for gaming. Blue is fine too if you don't mind that constant clicking noise. lol

Here's the link to spec at Cherry Corp.

Well, I pulled the trigger on the G84-4100LCMUS-2 which uses the ML Series Notebook Profile 0.27 Inch Keyswitches; which have a travel of 3mm and no tactile bump. EDIT: There seems to be some tactile response to the ML switches as defined in the graph-

Like it in black-

What I'll be stepping away from;
Wolfking:Timberwolf - Discontinued

Gamepad; "C" button sticks, Spacebar is starting to drag when pressed.
Had to cut one letter off the typing surface to replace the gamepad "W" membrane-bump as it was not depressing.
Have had Timberwolf for 2+ years.

EDIT
: Getting it from Compuvest for $64 + $8 shipping. It was the last G84-4100LCMUS-2 for $64!

That's... Not a great price. Most people at Geekhack frown at any ML keyboard for more than $20. I got mine for $16 shipped. The full retail price Cherry asks is, frankly, a rip-off. :/

Link to site with cheap'er G84-4100LCMUS-2 please? Cherry's site does not state a price for said board. Roughly 2 dozen retailers I checked are selling the G84-4100LCMUS-2 for $70 to $80.

There are lots and lots of near-new quality refurbed ML keyboards. They're bundled a lot with medical equipment, and then see light use for a few years until that equipment becomes obsolete and is sold to a recycler. Recyclers clean the boards up, repair any damage, and generally list them on ebay for $10-$25.

My opthamologist has lots of ML4100s in his office. tongue.gif

That's not even a G84-4100LCMUS-2... doh.gif

It does not list its model number, it's P/S2 and it's being sold out of France.
If something goes wrong with it, I'm stuck with it.

I now see how the G84-4100 can be $20... Used. I'm need new so it has a warranty!

EDIT: Here's the G84-4100LCMUS-2[USB], new, on ebay.

2nd EDIT: After an extensive ebay search, I've found that any G84-4100 under $50 is a P/S2 connector. Not USB!

Any of you ever measure the device latency between a USB keyboard and a P/S2 keyboard?

I got mine for $12.50. OP They are very cool keyboards, might take you awhile to get used to the layout as its a bit different.

Edit: I use mine for SC2 and BC2 nearly everyday, love it for gaming.
