Galaxy S vs Desire HD

So i'm fed up of my iphone 4. I detest this phone because it's so restrictive. Which would you choose out of these two phones and which one has to better modding/cooking community?

Thanks :}

IMO, the HTC Desire HD has better developer's support. If you take a look at the "HTC Desire HD Android Development" board over at XDA, there's a bunch of custom ROM's to choose from.

The only concerns I have about the Desire HD is the small battery it packs and the 4.3' display. With only 1230mAh, I wouldn't be surprised if the phone doesn't last a full 24 hours with use. My concern with the 4.3' screen is that I feel it's a bit too big. I personally think 4.0' is the optimal screen size.

If you want to look at more specs, go over to GSMarena and "compare" the two.

I'd go with the HTC Desire HD.

Also, are you buying the phone off Craigslist/Ebay or signing a new contract? If the latter, I'd wait for either the Galaxy S2 or HTC Pyramid/Sensation or Evo 3D.

I'd be signing a new contract for it. Also, I know this is off topic but what is your opinion on the LG Optimus X2?

Desire HD has a better screen, although the Galaxy S is essentially the new official dev phone.

I would wait for the Galaxy S II. Just hang on to your iPhone 4 for a couple more months.

Yeah, especially since you're signing a new contract, wait for the newer generation of phones. Just hang on to that iPhone 4 for a month or two longer.

The Galaxy S2 is reported to be delayed until June.

As for the LG G2X, I'm not a fan of LG in general so I wouldn't be the one to ask.

If you can't wait get the galaxy s so easy to root and mod.

But that's only if you can get one with a super AMOLED screen.

My phone never lags and takes great pics and videos.

Sent from my Galaxy S Voodoo'd
Running Super clean 6 lock Rom.

I prefer everything but the physical build and the 512mb of ram in the Galaxy S over the Desire HD. That said, either are great phones.

They said that was false. Believe them or not.

I'd go with the Desire HD because of the better community support. Last I checked the Galaxy S isn't supported by Cyanogenmod, if that means anything to you. :T
