"Random" Shutdowns, help please.

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I'm new here on the forums, and I'd would like some help with some issues that have been occurring with my new build.

I'm running a PhenomII x2 555BE on a Biostar A780L3L mobo, I currently have it clocked at 3.6GHz.

Now, the issue I am having is, regardless of if cores are unlocked, or if OC'ed, I get random crashes and or BSOD's. Even when at stock speed, as an x2, Prime95 stops before it even seems like it started. Says there was a rounding error, and that's it. I've run other stress testers and can run them for hours clocked at 4GHz, and the CPU temp never goes above 45 degrees. I'm using SpeedFan/Hardware Monitor Pro to record temps, and they both say my main board runs at over 120 degrees.....under no load, but everything else is far under anything that I would see as excessive.

I can run the Phenom at 4GHz and have absolutely no problems, that is, until I try to fullscreen some movie, or pretty much do anything graphics intensive.

I'm running the onboard graphics for the mobo, which is a Radeon HD3000(I'm poor, put this whole system together for $300) and I feel like it should be more than up to the task to watch a movie, especially when it's not HD content.

The only thing that I can really think of is that the GPU is over heating, causing the crash/reboot, but I'm not 100% on that, as Prime95 wont really run at all when trying to stress test the CPU(as x2)

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, as this is gunna be my work computer for graphic design/web development, and don't want it to randomly crash on me in the middle of working on a clients site, and lose everything.

If you need anymore information to help me figure this issue out, please feel free to ask them.

Ok, so right after I posted this, I went into User CP to fix an error in my system thing, and guess what, random crash!! All temps were "normal" and was running the Phenom as x2 at 3.6GHz, just changed it back to stock, just to see if it will crash again in a couple hours. This is really annoying, and I'd like to get it fixed ASAP. Thanks in advance for any help with this.

your memory..
Its the only logical explanation, there could be something wrong with your memory, I've had these problems before, they are usually due to one or more sticks of your RAM.

Well, the memory is brand spanking new, and I've heard nothing but good about OCZ, so if it is memory, I think it would be more of an incompatibility issue, rather than a bad stick. I think I'm gunna try take out a stick, trying Prime95, if I still get errors, switch out that stick for the other one, try again. If i still get errors after that, it's gotta either be incompatibility, a bad CPU, or the GPU overheating. That's the only things I can come up with.

Just ran a MemTest on the RAM, everything checked out ok....So I don't think it's the memory. Could be wrong though.

How long did you run memtest for? it usually is supposed to run for 12+ hours.

Sorry, but I couldn't help it.

Check your RAM timings, speed, and voltages and make sure that they are set at whatever OCZ recommends. My guess is your RAM needs to run at 1.65V but your mobo set it automatically at 1.5

If everything is how OCZ says it should be, then run memtest like the other guys said.

I would put all the ram settings back to stock and make shure the voltage is correct.
