Edit: Got help from a techie friend who was able to underclock my computer. Thread can be closed.

Hello. Please be kind, I don't know about computer building. Just how to use 'em. But I'd really like to know if my computer is brick'd or if I can underclock or whatever to fix it's current issue.

Earlier in March I decided to buy myself a copy of the Sims3. I had previously been playing it through... other means and just wanted to 'support the company' by getting my own copy. Everything was fine until about 10~15min later when the computer just SHUT OFF. But it only felt warm like normal. I had this issue in the past during Summer time with Lord of the Rings Online, but placing my fan next to the computer cured this issue and I was able to play for quite some hours with no issues (at that time when it shut off it felt HOT). Now, even with my mini desk fan AND cooling pad my computer is just shutting off after about 10~15min of playing a game. Though, the only two past Sims3 I've tested out are Dark Spore & Minecraft. MINECRAFT. Specs are below, computer was bought last year so it's honestly not that old which is saying something considering three of my friends have computers 3 or 4 years older and they can play no problem.

tl;dr: I want to know if my computer (AOi-chan) can continue to lightly play games or if it's doomed and can now only be used for schoolwork. Sorry if this is the wrong section, I honestly can't tell where it should go.

If it's in regards to AOi-chan, then it belongs in "Intel - General" because it's in regards to an Intel system.

This forum (General Processor Discussions) is for questions concerning both AMD and Intel at the same time.

Don't worry tho: I reported this thread, so it will be moved eventually.

Bah, that's what I thought. Should have gone with it. And yes, it's regarding "AOi-chan". It's the only computer I have right now. Replaced my 6 year old Desktop.

Certainly.

However, I feel I should warn you that you may want to avoid using special text formatting because some people here may find it to be irritating (that's just my past experience on here).

hi I'm new here and I experience similar problems with hikarushirou, my computer overheats to games, eg. minecraft, it reaches high temps of 108
I tried to cope with it with a little success by switching to power saver mode (you should try it)

I lost the original charger for my laptop, and replaced it (apparently with a different model but same specs as the original otherwise)
I suspect the problem might lie in the ac adapter, as when I use my friend's one (he owns the same laptop as me), temperature of my CPU and GPU dropped tremendously

please help! thanks!

im sorry for the bad english here

108C??? And here I am complaining aout my 65C ...

Anyway, if your friend's adapter makes temps better (by how much??), then I suggest you try to find a model like his to buy. It looks like your current PSU is trying to kill your machine ... and is winning...

actually it still overheated and shutdown with my friend's adapter...
but my CPU temp is 50 with my current adapter in idle (may hit 70 while gaming), while 40 when gaming with my friend's adapter..
