I checked a few videos on how to reapply the thermal paste, but I found a big problem... I think I'm unable to find my CPU card in my laptop
I remembered looking for it when I opened up my laptop, but couldn't find it D:

Any ideas? T_T

lol. That's okay, could you post a pic of the underside of the laptop when the backplates are taken off?? I don't own a Y450 so I have no idea how stuff is arranged on the inside

haha nvm, i found them underneath the heatsink (I didnt know which was the heatsink .___.)
I found three chips, I'll suppose two are my CPUs and 1 is my GPU
then I noticed... that the thermal paste of one of them (specifically the one in the middle), is an odd one out.
the thermal paste on the other two are sticky (dry) but the one in the middle is like... gum? it only sticks on one side... on the heatsink
I think thats the problem, but now, maybe exposing the chips to dust, my laptop (CPU) is getting hot pretty quickly now... D:
I think I might be buying and reapplying the thermal paste over the weekends.
Gosh, now my CPUs are 60+ degrees at idle.

Thread Starter
Yeaahhh... I'm going to say this thread is done now since it's come down to a conversation between nix & dk...

And it seems my issue is solved anyhow thanks to a techie friend figuring out how to underclock my system.

O0ops, Sorry. I meant to do a multiquote with an earlier post but looking back now, I failed >_<. So I just assumed you were away. My fault

If you don't mind, could you share exactly what was underclocked and how so? For the sake of people who will have similar issues and stumble on this thread. Again, my apologies ....

You better seat the heatsinks properly.... I feel like your idle temps are too high and could just need to clean all parts and apply new grease of high quality.

Im glad the UC works but dont think thats a good solution. From what your saying sounds would take care of it and you can put it back to stock settings that you payed for. Y run a derated CPU if you dont have too?

Good Luck
