Interested in Nvidia SLI.

My current rig, listed in my signature, will be going to my wife, she does a nice bit of gaming, so I feel it will be strong enough for what she does. This is because I have been saving up a nice chunk of money to build a Sandy Bridge build.

My 2600k, and a few other misc parts I've ordered will be here Monday. The HAF 932 Advanced, and some cathodes for the occasional, hey look at my case guys, during lans.

Before I go on, I ask for your patience, because my computer knowledge is enough to build the computer, correctly, install windows 7, and start updating, and installing important things. Like Starcraft II. So when I ask you question regarding.. say, a watercooled 470 sli vs a 580, don't go for my neck. I don't know. I always assumed with NVIDIA's naming scheme equaled quality. I wasn't even AWARE of video graphics water cooling until I read some posts on this website.

Ironicly scoffing at the lack of fans on a video card I saw in a picture, only to realize it had a tube connected to the damned thing for watercooling.

But anyway. I'm building a new machine. CPU is decided, in the air about a motherboard, a nice gentlemen linked me some ram which I've bookmarked due to the limited stock of them, and I was drop kicked for the idea of using an H70 Water Cooler for the CPU, so I'm in the air about that as well.

Anyway, again, lol, I want NVIDIA cards this time. I love my 5850's, I really do, but I've always had ATI. I want to try NVIDIA. I'm thinking I can spare... roughly $670 for the card(s).

Now that you know the budget, I'll let you know what my computer usage is. Video Games. MY monitor is a 24 inch samsung hd 1080p, 1920x1080 I play Crysis, Crysis 2, Black Ops, Starcraft 2, I dabble in WoW, Bulletstorm, Dragon Age I and II, working on Mass Effect then the second one, and Metro 20whatever.

Definitely 480 SLI(+aftermarket cooler) or 560 SLI would be the best option here considering the amount of money you are willing to spare

I assume that is a 60Hz monitor, are you positive you want SLI? A single 580 should be enough to beast through 1080p and you can wait until the prices go down a bit more for SLI. What's wrong with your setup now? Anything above 60FPS is a waste on a 60Hz monitor for most games unless it's a source game. (still assuming it's a 60Hz monitor please tell me if it's not)

since ur getting the half 932 u should get the thermaltake silver arrow or the noctua d14 air coolers they perform better than the h70 they are just way bulkier but u will have plenty of room in that case. I reccomend getting 2 570s that should be in ur price range

560 Ti SLI. You can play with overclocking them as well which is apparently dangerous with the 570s.

If you're going to watercool, be sure to get reference cards (follow NVidia reference board pattern). If you get non-reference design cards, you'll likely not find a block to fit unless they're very popular.

That's what I keep hearing, get a 580 and sli it down the road whenever you need a performance upgrade.

As for my current setup, nothing is wrong with it. I'm just giving it to my wife because she needs a new computer. That old Emachine has seen better days.

And yes, unfortunately it is a 60Hz. ALSO, I should have mentioned, I will have a second monitor, but do not plan on multi-monitor gaming with it. I just wanted something I could watch the news/stock with while I game.

Dude, I don't know anything about OC'ing. I thought I was top **** when I let OC Genie overclock my 1090T BE for me.

evga for sure cant beat a lifetime warrenty. get the nh-d14 if u dont like the silver arrow

edit: get the 240 rad raza kit then if u plan on blowing the money on cooling. its way better then all the coolers i previously mentioned and it would be as simple as installing an h70
