New i7 2600k build MABEY FINALY? THOUGHTS - Page 2

this combo doesn't look too bad:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboB...t=Combo.627552

Only thing in it I'm not crazy about is the case cause it has a top mounted PSU. Otherwise it's not a bad deal for 510$ after MIR.

2500k is MORE than enough for your usage mate.

The build I put together gets you a 64gb SSD along with a Samsung F3 1TB HDD.

Go with it, you can even upgrade the Antec TPN650 PSU I picked earlier to the 750watt Corsair or XFX as suggested above, both of which are perfect choices. Shoot, you EVEN have enough money to invest in a reall nice case like the NZXT Phantom (which stays wonderfully clean and quiet) or the Lian-Li Lancool PC-K62/K63 which are both gorgeous, easy to work with, have dust filters, great cable management (keeping things cleaner) and plenty of included fans.

*Edit* - don't forget a DVD drive for your build.

Good luck

(don't forget the $15 promo-code) plus one or two 140mm fan/s (~$12) for the top would be a great and cheap option.

That is absolutely true.

Stick with your GTX460 and get a 2nd one for SLI whenever you can afford it (this setup will destroy a 6970), but get yourself a 21" or more 1080p+ monitor first. They're actually really cheap these days.

If you really want to raid you can get 2 of these
or just 1 of these, for great performance at a good price.

Your PSU is overkill and not fantastic quality either, I'd suggest this instead, less than half the price, better quality to boot.

Mobo choice is up to you might have to go elsewhere than newegg to find a decent one in stock (like the ASUS P8P67 series or gigabyte UD4/5 or something)

If you don't mind open box: lots of people have been satisfied with this board

^^ That's it, that's the build. The i5 is MORE than enough mate. Just trust us on this point, it's more than enough.

The i5 2500k WILL overclock to around 4.5ghz on that cooler, and at that speed rivals the 6core i7-980x overclocked in certain situations. In gaming, the Sandy Bridge CPU's are unrivaled clock for clock.

This is a WONDERFUL build, very similar to one I just ordered and am building for a client tomorrow when it arrives.

No more thought required.
