Intel i5 build

Pointed to this site by a friend. I just threw a bunch of things together with help from some friends. Trying to keep this under 1000.

Have a dilemma on the cpu. Between this 1155 and 1156, which would you guys recommend? I could just get the 1155 for less and overclock it, or pay 30 extra for the 1156. Which do you guys think would be better?

On windows 7 64 bit. Plan to use it for gaming, and I'll probably add another 6870 for crossfire down the road.

1156 is dead, go 1155
but that 760 oc might be faster than the 2300

I would go for the 1155 socket. But with that exact chip you chose, you cannot overclock as much as Sandy Bridge is advertised to. With that chip, you cannot go over 4.0GHz. Now if you buy the 2500K, it would be ~$230 and you would be able to overclock upwards to an absolute maximum of 5.7GHz.

The i5 2500k would be really awesome and it'd be worth the extra bucks for longetivity .. Then again, you could also put that money to the upcoming new CPUs for the LGA 1155 socket: Ivy Bridges or may new SBs

It's a damn shame the 2300 can't be overclocked properly.Would be nice to have a truly overclockable sandy bridge cpu from intel for 100.00.
