CM Cosmos 1000 cabling mod

Thread Starter
Have been using Cosmos 1000 for 4 years, I don't OC and do not have tons of HDDs, so case and hd temp are good. I love everything about this case except one thing, cabling.

Hiding cables is an exceptionally challenging task with this case, today when I looked at the cable clutter, I feel that I have to do something......

After an afternoon of hard work......

More holes for cables to go behind mobo, with original holes, cables can't pass through the vertical steel beam, otherwise the side panel won't close......

One hole on top right for 8 pin CPU power cable, also cover all edges with rubber trip to hide ugliness and imperfection

A big hole for installing CPU heat sink is a must

Cut bottom intake fan grill for better airflow, cover the zigzag edge with rubber trim, excuse the yellow duck in the background, it's my dog's toy......

Tools used:
  • 1 inch hole saw
  • Dremel cutting disc for metal (pack of 5)
  • Masking tape
  • Rubber trip from MNPCTech

After everything is done, the drill bit of the hole saw was bent, 2 of the cutting discs are completely flatten, all due to the steel plate thickness. Really need to appreciate the quality of this case. Nowadays $200 can't buy a case with such thickness (and of course, heaviness) wink.gif
