Is Windows Vista the worst windows operating system ever? - Page 8

I didn't mind Vista as much as ME.

I grew up on 3.1 Those were the days.

But I had a vista ultimate and it was bad (although I must say at least it didn't crashed every 30 mins like XP does. Much more stable.)
What annoyed me the most was the fact that Vista treats all users like if they are complete idiots, that don't know anything about computers and therefore mustn't be allowed to choose anything important or else they will screw it up.
Made me feel like Microsoft owned my pc and was just letting me use it...
they still do windows 7 is identical to vista in that aspect.

i'm like some here, i don't understand the vista hate either, as i loaded it up on a p4 3.0 GHz with 2 GB's of ram, and it ran fine.

7 is alright, i wouldn't call it the "revolutionary" OS that many claim it to be. it did improve on some of vista's shortcomings, but to me, many who write off vista with "it sucked" didn't use it more than 5 minutes realized how different it was from "xp" and went back to xp or they just read or heard so many other "experts" bash it, and never tried it.

as for vista's reception, it is amazing how many "enthusiast" have short term or selective memories, XP had very little good reviews about it when it came out, when i ran it, it would constantly crash and so many programs i used didn't work with it, that i was forced back into using windows 98 SE till the programs i used became "XP compatible" which wasn't till around the release of sp2.

so if to any one that claims "XP" has always been good, is delusional, it didn't get good till sp2...vista was decent at launch, became great with sp1, and even better with sp2, and 7 well...since i find it hard to see that it isn't much more than vista with service pack 2 and a new gui...welcome to windows mojave

YOU SADISTS!!!

But honestly Windows 98 (non-SE) and ME were they worst attempts that Microsoft has ever done. I personally think that Windows 95 was the best they ever did.
Nope, not even close. It just got bad rep.

I used it from beta up until a few months ago when I finally installed 7. Some friends of mine amused the hell out of me while I used Vista. They went from excited about it when it was in beta, to saying it's crap when I knew for a fact they never even touched it. I personally still think to this day that most people who believe it was crap never really used it. I also got good laughs when people started installing 7, and telling me about "new" features I had been using for awhile already.

As far as worst OS, I'm going to have to repeat what everyone else stated, it's definitely Windows ME. Stupid Compaq with that OS on it made me avoid computers for awhile.

Vista is great if you had good hardware. But most people didnt.

Gamers had it. So they used Vista for a long time. Vista in a slow PC is a no-no but in a fast PC with lots of RAM and a strong GPU it works fine.

In a strong PC, Windows 7 works like XP would on a PC that Vista runs slow.

Overall, Microsoft had made Win 7 what they should have made in Vista. That is they optimised it.

A 2 GB service pack to make Vista optimised might have helped its luck but a completely new OS perhaps was not needed

I would say Win 98 (before the SE edition) was the worst. Never tried ME before.

In my opinion, win 2000 and win xp were among the best. 2000 for its stability and xp for its revolutionary gui which made every other os prior to it look grey and boring.
