New build

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

Long time browser first time poster. I am currently starting a new build for gaming that I plan to go 3d with. What are your thoughts on this list? I started getting some parts already but still have time to make any critical changes.

CoolerMaster 690 II Advanced Nvidia Edition
AsRock P67 Extreme6
Intel i5 2500K
2 x 4GB Corsair Vengence DDR3 1600
2 x MSI GTX 560ti Twin Frozer II's
XFX Black Edition 750w PSU
LiteOn Blu Ray burner
XSPC Rasa 750 240mm Water Cooling kit
Kingston 64GB SSD
WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200rpm 6.0 SATA

I was trying to also do research on a RAID setup but found myself lost on it. I was told that a RAID controller would be needed and I don't believe my mobo will have the space for that.

Also, are the benefits of running my OS on the SSD worth the extra money I will be spending on it?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Running the OS in an SSD is just if you want faster boot times and such, its up to you if you want to pay for that or not. But I would move you user files and most program files to your other drive.
Edit: look at this for a SSD boot drive http://www.overclock.net/ssd/664738-...secondary.html

yes its defiantly worth the extra money for an ssd, and no you dont always need a raid card you can do it through your mobo (depending if it has a good controller card built in)
and no offense if you are buy taht board for 200 dollars you might as will through you money down the toliet
these are way better board:

What was wrong with the Extreme6? I have read some awesome things about the Extreme4 and the features that they come with for the price. I will definitely heed advice as long as I know the reasons to avoid things.

Thanks

well i know for a fact that gigabyte and asus comes with way better vrms; the overall cooling in the sabertooth is better, as well as some of the board are cheaper that your choice but give you equal/better value, also i might add that the asus b3 mobos have the new bios with mouse interface.

however i might stick with the extreme 6 only because it has 16+2 vrms (but the vrms may still be of crappy quaility, idk i have never gone with asrock before), so thats my opinion =)

My build started today. I got my case in and also my PSU and mobo. I ended up going with the Asrock as the features and price were to hard to pass up. I will be posting up pics and a build log as the parts continue to come in.
