Just get the HD 6970 with the rebate and call it a day.

You will get triple monitor support on a bad*** card.

Sorry I was looking at another 6950, the one you linked the MSI R6950 Twin Frozr is 2GB DDR5 but I don't think you can unlock it.

By the looks of it, it isn't a reference card either. Not sure if that makes a difference to you or not but I still suggest paying the extra $100 and going for the 6970. Much better card IMO.

*EDIT* thrasherht said it well!

You fail to understand the point of unlocking.

You are a unlocking more processing cores in the GPU chip. So it is about the same as unlocking an X2 CPU to an X4 cpu, like what you can do with the phenom II chips.

So you get more processing cores, and can overclock too.

i already heard many issue with unlocking the 6950, so i dont encourage unlocking it instead just unlock the shader would be better. i understand what unlocking means and at the same time the voltage changes and many ppl had problems with their unlocked 6950 being overheated which will damage the card. its just my opinion, might not happen to everyone, but thats what i suggest only unlock the shader.

Which is exactly why I say to get the 6970 for 314 dollars. It is on sale for a good price compared to the other cards.
Might as well.
